What to do with dead drives?

I usually dismantle the, and play with the magnets.  Considering they are rare earth neodymium magnets, they are fkin strong and can easily crush your fingers if you get them pinned even from 1 inch apart.  Then play with the discs and then snap them in half.

As the others have said dismantle them for the magnets, make sure the platters are worthless and the recycle it.

If you don't want to play with the awesome magnets you can just hammer a nail through the drive and recycle it.

That is my old pc. I start it up occasionally but it is soooo slow lol. Surprisingly it still runs lol. I paid $3500 when that pc came out lol. A dvd rw was $700 at the time from CompUSA. I'm still using WD and have no problems with them. At least so far. Knock on wood.
