Better AMD cpu than Intel

Hi, i want to ask if there is better AMD CPU than Intel Core i5 4690K. As far as i know i cannot find better CPU. AMD FX-9590 is not better than Intel Core i5 4690K when i was reading it on CPU boss. Dont even try to suggest me Xeon or i7 CPU because i cannot afford that much. Thanks.

cpu boss/gpu bpss is a bad comparison tool, for future reference, though that is right, for a lot of things that i5 is better. Most things  really.

If you want an AMD CPU I suggest waiting for Zen to come out. As of currently the best CPU they have is the 8350 - which is objectively determined to be "not good"

AMD FX-9590 only beats i5 in rendering and heating your room. Why not i7? You can have 4790k + mobo for the same price as 9590 + mobo (and don't forget expensive PSU and liquid cooler). Don't even go AMD, I had 8320, shit, high temps, loads of fps drops... never again.

You should have asked this in 2009/2010. Because those were the years AMD made CPU's that could truly compare to Intel's offerings. (And I blame AMD's very poor management for that).

An 8320 at 5.3GHz is still slower single threaded than an i5 4440 at 3.1GHz (3.3GHz boost). Which is one of the reasons why I only recommend anything from the FX line for specific tasks. And then I only recommend the FX 8320.

If you go for a locked chip, you can get motherboards that can overclock. Atleast, the z77 can oc a second gen i5 to 3.8ghz fine, but it isnt a massive increase. I think your intel chip should be fine.

A xeon costs the same as the 4690k

so if youre planning to do video editing or rendering buy the xeon 1231v3 instead of the i5

Whats so wrong with a xeon? You can get a xeon 1231 v3 and an h97 board for less than a 4690k and a z97 board.

My point was that they don't really cost more. OP said that he couldn't afford an i7 or xeon, but I gave an example of a xeon in his budget. On topic, the xeon does have hyperthreading so it may be a little better when games support more cores. I'm not saying the 4690k isn't a better option, I'm just showing another example.

I know, and games still rely heavily on single threaded performance, which the i5 can just keep on gaining with higher overclocks.

Id be hard pressed to see any game that will see the difference with a OC'd I5 beating a stock I7(or xeon)

That makes no sense, FX line over clocks differently from haswell.

And its a fact that the 9590 runs hot, while a 4690k doesn't need to to get better performance.

Its like you're getting mad simply because FX is worse and someone said something about it.
