Another GTA V question, sorry

My friends spec: 

 

Intel Pentium E6600

4GB ram

R7 260

 

Can he play GTA V?

 

*I heard somewhere that GTA V requires a "core" version of cpus, or at least 4 cores. This is a myth right?

 

 

CPU: Ryzen 7-3700x 4.4GHz, MB: ASUS PRIME B450M-A, GPU: SAPPHIRE RX 590, RAM: 16GB Corsair 3200MHz, SSD: 480GB Kingston HDD: 2TB WD Green, CHASSIS: CoolerMaster HAF 912, PSU: CoolerMaster Thunder 700W, COOLER: Hyper 212 Black Edition

You really shouldn't be running it without an R9/ 900 series card and a quad core CPU.

Gta v works a whole lot better with 4 cores

That GPU might do decent, but not sure about CPU..

It would probably bottleneck quite a bit..

Not sure if it will actually play. In LTT's video you saw dual core CPU's not work but I heard about people talking about playing it on DUal core CPU's (mainly that Pentium CPU)

I mean it's probably a bad idea to try and run GTA V without an R9 270X+ or GTX 960+ with an i5 or FX 83--

What? You can run it perfectly well with less than that. I have a friend with a 750Ti and an FX6300 and it runs fine on around medium settings.

Pretty sure you can play it with i3 CPU's too :P

And 750 should do decent too, just like the R7 260X

GTA V will certainly prefer four cores to two, but the more pressing issue is that that Pentium E6600 was already a bargain CPU 5 years ago and it compares in performance to a first-generation AMD Phenom. I'm pretty sure GTA V would run, but it's going to be rough.

?? Even a GTX 480 card can handle GTA 5 fine. That's a 5+ year old card.

Well I don't know for sure for GTA but I've had some bad experiences with my 7770 tho :P

 

Because the 7770 is a low end card, You definitely don't need an R9/900 series GPU just something mid range.

In fairness the 260x is low end too, having two will definitely help you providing the games you play have a decent crossfire profile. Are yours the 1/2GB variant?

Shame the VRAM doesn't stack, I'm guessing that's your biggest limitation (providing the crossfire support works)

Crossfire is a mess too, most of the time the second card does nothing even in games like BF4 which should definitely support it.
