Info on CPUs

I know theres a guy who has a huge page full of links that he copy pastes in every amd vs intel thread. Kinda just made this thread so he would show up and paste it, i have a friend who thinks the fx 8350 will stomp an i3 and i need that huge page of info with all the graphs and benchmarks and links to show him why thats not true.

don't forget to mention that an i5 4440 will out perform the 8350 and be cheaper since you can get a cheap motherboard where as the 8350 needs a 990fx to be reasonably stable and be able to overclock it.

well...in fact it depends on the game...but for most modern games an overclocked FX-8320 still drive games better than a core i3 haswell from my testing...sure some mmo's and RTS will prefer the core i3...but modern multi-threaded online games respond better to a cpu with more than 2 cores.

Yeah, but a locked i5 and cheap mobo (which won't hamper performance or stability) is around the same price as an fx8 and a 990fx mobo (which is needed for decent overclocking) either way you can't really go less than 100 for a mobo with an fx8. So for anyone looking to build a system now, the i5 and cheap b85 or h81 mobo gives way better performance for around the same price

you don't need to tell me that i'm fully aware of that ...also the i3 and FX trade blows from game to game yes...but again the FX will end-up being a lot more expensive than the i3 once you factor proper motherboard cost, aftermarket CPU cooling solution and extra energy cost from running a 250/300W overclocked monster CPU.

i'm in no way recommending the AMD FX...it's worst piece of shit it should have been retired from the market YEARS ago. but no, the i3 does not stomp it in games...if there was only two cpu's available on the face of planet earth and i had the choice between a core i3-4150 or an FX-8320...i'd still pick the FX anyday...that's all i'm saying.

 

upgrade path, modern platform, lower cost, low power consumption, similar performance in many games are the reasons why the i3 is the best option...but purely performance wise: overall the FX-83XX is a better chip.
