Why the hell does everything in Europe cost so much?

Mouse-Potato

Just moved here from the US and.... Damn!!!

Everything is so damn expensive, and sometimes I can't even find some of the items that are sold in North America. Like a Define R4 for $130 or GTX 970's for $420~$450.

Is there a reason for this?

Yea if you look at online shops it all looks cheaper, but I think on the US online shops they don't include the taxes (which they do in the EU shops)

VAT rates are commonly 20% or more. That's the main difference.

I'm in France and the country has literally been going to shit, stuff costs more and more but the minimum wage stays the same..

I guess the taxes do make everything cost that much more, I forgot that the prices here include tax and in the Us they don't.

Taxes.

But you get a tradeoff in everything else in the country being better quality, food, health care etc.

The wife is french, they have good healthcare here, and the state pays for everything, even part of the rent. One of the reasons why the country is going to shit IMO.

That's pretty good, but try and find a H440 for a decent price... They are worth their weight in gold!
