I read an article now about how Rockstar Games has been banning players for the use of singleplayer mods. What the hell Rockstar! The reason a lot of people bought PC GTA V is just because of mods. Are they really trying to steal every penny they can from us? There is no point to this, when Rockstar is a booming company. They made more money than the cost to produce GTA 5 just in pre-orders during the game's first consoles release of 2013. This really angers me, when companies that are filthy rich try and steal extra pennies from you, which ruins the gameplay experience. A common example of this is Clash of Clans for iOS and Android. They try as hard as they can to force you to buy gems and extra coins by making a town hall level up from level 9 to level 10 take 3 days and cost a few hundred gems to skip. Rockstar has stooped to that level, huh? It's sad, to think back to the days of San Andreas where we could bomb up single player with mods, and they could give one shit less. You have to be kidding me, I bought  GTA V just because of single player mods.

people feel entitled to free content. I dont get it. you don't do your job for free, so why should others?

Beyond the obvious above how can you accuse a company for trying to make money? Nobody owes you entertainment, Rockstar is one of the best in the industry in designing insanely good games. It is their intellectual property and they can do whatever they want with it. Just because you bought a product they made, doesn't change that fact.

To keep on that line Rockstar has to keep control of the game. You *know* that there's going to be mods to have all female NPC's be naked and other such things. It's an easy way to lose everything and get it banned. They *have* to this, it isn't about money at all.

That's actually a good point, and why car companies don't want you to modify cars. It still looks bad on them for something a individual made

How is Rockstar stealing money from you by banning mods? You didn't pay for the rights to mod the game, unless it's stated in the terms and rights thingy which you probably didn't read.

 

Modding isn't a right you know, don't just blindly blame greed for it like a sheep.

Wait, this doesn't make much sense. Clash of Clans is clearly nothing but a game that incitates people into paying while playing it with no or little fun involved. GTA 5 is actually a good game.

 

You are just mad that you can't mod without being mad, that  I agree but your arguments make not sense.

 

The mods you install for singleplayer probably carry over to multiplayer because the files are mostly the same, if you create a copy (which I know is hard and will take a lot of time each time because the game is huge) and switch to vanilla when you want to play online theres no problem. 

 

And by the way, if you connect to online with mods by accident, as long as it doesn't make you cheat in any way It must be fine.

Well GTA 5 is Rockstar's intellectual property, so if they don't want people modding it, then Rockstar has every right to ban people. Though I wonder what they'd do if it was a single player mod you'd created yourself with no intent to distribute.

i feel its probably because there is nothing separating the single player content from the multiplayer. This could easily be changed through an update though.

Dude it's fine. If people cracked it once they WILL do it again. Give them a few days. Rockstar will probably patch it again too. Then people will crack it. It is an endless battle Rockstar will loose in the end and should never have been started.

That would be good, I can easily see how being allowed mods when playing multiplayer could cause some issues, but single player mods shouldn't be as big a deal if they aren't being distributed.

or rockstar could let us have dedicated servers where mods are allowed and dissalow players from joining rockstar hosted servers with mods. .

I opened a ticket with rockstar support for losing over a million dollars worth of car. My last reply was sending them screenshots of my garage to prove I wasn't come kind of idiot that just filled them full. They never replied so my ticket was auto closed. Good job rockstar, great support.

I'm super butthurt that only people who switched to PC gta online from console can get the Dukes car as a personal vehicle.

By "ban" do you mean from the multi player component, or outright remove your rights to even play the game, be it single player or multi player?

 

If it's the former, then it's probably because they felt that the mods may affect online gameplay, which they didn't want and is perfectly normal.

If it's the latter... Well, first off that sucks, but you can just as well turn around and simply crack the game. You won't be able to play online, but at least you will be able to play in single player and mod whatever you want. You paid for it, you should be allowed to at least play the single player, you ain't gaining a wrongful advantage over anybody for modding a single player game afterall.

 

As a general rule though, you shouldn't mod games that are always online... and if you're going to, make it so it never goes online/crack it.

GTA V kind of is Always Online with Social Club, though you can technically play offline... But it will need access to the internet sooner or later.
