I want something that will give me better audio I am currently using a rampage extreme V so the audio is already decent and I am using M50x's if that matter. So i was thinking about a sound card but in Logan's video here he says they don't really make a difference compared to on board audio. is this true?

No, the 5 extreme has amazing sound, so there isn't a reason for a sound card. I wouldn't even get an external amp/dac until you get quite a bit above the m-50 level.

Yes. Those "gaming" soundcards basically don't do anything when compared to onboard audio. HOWEVER, if you spend your money on a real DAC, the differences are huge. I really don't recommend getting sound cards like Logan showed, unless you simply need more outputs than your motherboard currently has.

If you're looking for better sound and not more ports, then look into something like the FiiO E10K (guilty, I love it) or an ODAC, and check out Head-Fi.org

They produce sound

Incorrect, the speakers are what produce the sound :P

the sound card just converts it from digital to analog.
