Corsair k70(rgb) or a new monitor

SV4NL

Hey everyone,

I am looking to upgrade my setup that I have at the moment.

I am in love with the corsair k70 and I never had a mechanical keyboard before and I really want one but on the other hand I also want a new monitor because the one I have now runs on a 1360x768 resolution.

Does it make a big difference in going from a 1360x768 resolution to a 1920x1080 resolution? or should I go with a mechanical keyboard if yes should I go for cherry mx reds or cherry mx browns?

I really cant decide, every help is appreciated

Get a new monitor. A keyboard can come later on. You could have a cheapo keyboard and still play. Having a new monitor makes everything more pleasant.

With the build in your sig, you would be a lunatic NOT to get 1080p first :)

Monitor if your GPU can handle it.

The difference is massive :)

For me going from 1280x1024p to 1920x1080p made a big difference.

U will have so much more space.

If your GPU is old and weak then u should get the keyboard.

Well, judging by your monitor that is more important to replace right about now. Even if you have an old GPU it will power 1080, though it may not game on all the ultra settings. A keyboard should be a sort of "I've built my rig, now to make it more enjoyable to use" type thing.

hmmm... So I guess with similar budget you are looking at an around 23'' monitor? If it were me I don't even consider it a choice between the monitor and keyboard. I would get a bigger monitor without even considering the other option.

Mechanical keyboards are still nice to haves personally, but I would consider a good monitor essential.

I'd buy a new monitor if I were you.

I'd also recommend you to go to a store and feel the difference on the keyboards before you buy one.

okay thanks everyone

I will get the 1080p monitor. My GPU is a GTX 770 so I am sure I am able to run it.

It is my birthday next week and these were the options given to me to get as a gift. maybe I am still going to buy the corsair k70 with my own money

I think I am going for the non-rgb version because it is cheaper if you really think this is a bad idea this is your change to stop me and to let me buy the rgb version

your GTX 770 will handle it just fine.

I would get the non-rgb, no differences apart from it being rgb... and you save money too.

U stuck with a shitty monitor for too long then, 770 is great for 1080p.

There are two differences with keyboard: Lights and LED protection. Both are better on RGB version.

Heard a lot of complaints about LEDs dying on nonRGB version so u do your research and decide. I've had my RGB since November and its like new :)

RGB was about £35 more expensive than nonRGB in UK so I wanted to treat myself and get the best possible as my 1st mech keyboard. Since then the price difference increased to £60 which is a big difference.
