Experiences with 1440p/4K

Tadgh

Is the workspace handy?

Would you choose 4K 27" or 1440p 27"? Price and ease of... Pixel pushing included. Is the 4K workspace that useful?

4K scaling right now sucks a ton. I mean a ton. Everything is so small I could barely even see it.

Ew. Is there not a third party application to just multiply the size of various programs' UI, and all desktop elements and non-3D apps by 4?

In the last weeks, might be some month, Windows 8.1 was updated so the scaling is better. Now even having different monitors with different resolutions from 4K to 1080p seems to be okay.

I've seen plenty of 1440x900 in my time, but 75Hz? Nice, what difference do those extra 15FPS make? ;). Yeah I would need a lot of money again to move up.. I'm probably gonna wait a little. But tbh I'd kill for an IPS panel, the worst thing about my two TNs is that at 21.5" and 1080p, they have a horrific blue tint that can't really be corrected (yes, I've done the color temps and all) - all of the colors are weak af. I notice that and I'm colorblind. HML

How much difference does the refresh rate make? I mean I've heard it's impressive but I've never used a +60Hz panel :///

Well I used to run it on CSS on integrated graphics WAY back in the day when I was an uber scrub when it came to PC's so I didn't know a lot about refresh rates I mostly cared about high settings (On integrated...poor me....) I bought a 4850 first card I got myself £48 (Yeah I thought it was defective but it was old at the time) My 9 year old monitor has an awful green tint that makes whites look like gunge and is my secondary monitor poor wee thing smells like whisky and burnt dust!

Is there much difference from 1080?

It seems to me like something that should be relatively easy - I'm not an expert - but I do wonder why microsoft finds scaling so hard..

Story of my life - 11 year old me thought he was BALLIN running a 5450. Passively cooled and all. In my first build I planned to use a little TV as a monitor and for some reason it was HORRIBLE - so I spent the very last of my savings get a 17" 768p screen, VGA, I thought I was the shit xD. Ahh now, don't be giving out about whisky and burnt dust - I thought that would be a scot's equivalent to lemon and lavender.. ;)

-snip-

yes there's a big difference, text looks more crisp and you have more work area. and i think 25 inches is a perfect size, it's not that much bigger than my previous monitor (23") and it gives me more work area. also 1080p looks blurry now :P
