Hes talking about this one time when he worked for a beach restaurant as a dishwasher. They had about a dozen large, wok-like pans that were moldy and very dirty so he had the brilliant idea to put them in the shallow water on the beach and leave them there over night. The tide came in and swept all the (expensive) pans into the ocean except for one that was stuck on a rock. He got fired... something like that i think.

He didnt get the brilliant idea to .He was originally gonna wash them in the sink but his boss said to put it in the sea
