Intel CPU is getting more expensive here in Australia

If the Australian dollar keeps plummeting an i7 would cost $500 probably soon. It is very close to that already. Around November-December of 2014 an i7 4790K cost $415, earlier than that it was $380. Yesterday I checked at PC Case Gear and Umart it is now $476, it went up from $415 to $476 in less than 4 months. An unlocked i5 back in 2013 was $270, now it is $360. My FX-8350 also went up in price, but by only $20. Why is that? Also motherboards such as the ASUS Z97 VII Hero went from $200 to $315 in less than 4 months - Oh geez! But everything outside of CPU and Motherboards did not change.

Is there any hope?!  :(

Strangely though AMD GPU pricing did not change at all. My old R9 270X back in 2013 I bought for $250 and it is still $250. My new R9 290 I bought around October last year is still the same price as today. And AMD CPU only went up in price marginally. Now I wished I didn't got the FX-8350 in the first place. I was planning to save up $600 for a new i7 + motherboard at the end of this year, but it looks like I have to add more money for this year to $750.

Unfortunately Australia is the WORST country for PC components. They are endlessly going up in price. :L

I'm waiting for the next gen of intel CPUs to come out so the 4690K and 4790K will go down in price.

It happened here as well although not to the same extent percentage wise, 4790k is already right around the $500 mark here :( .

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life

Why don't these Australians realize their dollar isn't worth much at all compared to American dollars and Euros.

And no I'm not talking about the conversion rate only.

yeah we do know that, we are not all yobo's. However it's not a simply value v value.  The economics is not simple,  the cost of many items in Australia is not actually linked to the value of the dollar compared to the greenback or euro, and even when we do see a correlation it is only half of the story.  We also have what has kindly been coined the "fuck you Australia tax"  a percentage of profit that is simply added to cost of many products because we are a captive market and there are many excuses they can use to justify it (although they knew they were caught out when the government asked them to prove it, so they simply told the truth: "we charge as much as we think Aussies will pay")

Well that $476 AUD currently converts to $371 USD and a 4690K from Newegg is $339 USD you can almost say that is fair due to how shitty our dollar is against the US. Still I wish it was all cheaper, I am pretty sure I paid around $210 for my Core i5 2500 in 2012 from MSY.

As much as I love this country of ours. Our tanking economy and poor job market really makes me loathe it, and it's only going to get worse before it gets better I guess :/

As someone who actually works in an Australian PC store, it is solely because of the falling Australian dollar. Synnex, Ingram Micro, Dicker Data, Bluechip - they all purchase from overseas at the US$ even when dealing with Asian suppliers. The issue is that our dollar is now worth pretty much nothing in comparison to what it was and thus their purchase price goes up and they pass that on to us, the retailers. Having said that though, some of the distributors certainly take a large markup.

SO what your saying is, we can have one, if we are willing to go without the case, PSU, graphics cards and borderline not enough ram to game with?

Prices are getting waaaay too high here now.. (not on all products, but most of them)

I suppose. It's more of a comparison between what you get for 1000 AUD vs 1000 USD. Both of which being incomplete systems, but 1000 AUD hardly buys you anything.
