He's saying that he has 2 3GB cards and they're showing up as 6GB. This happens in GTA V for some reason and it just doubles predicted VRAM usage and stuff.

So it basically doesn't mean anything.

VRAM doesn't stack ATM so you only have 3GB effective, but when you're seeing 6GB GTA V is just doubling everything. There's no good reason it does it for now but with DirectX12 and/or Vulkan vram may stack. I guess that's the reason they implemented it now.

Still 3GB. VRAM does not stack in SLi or CorssfireX. 

 

Unsure as to why GTA 5 is reporting it as 6GB though.

I believe so, yes. GTA is weird with xfire though (for now), so the game might actually run better without xfire enabled. Try it both ways. A 7970 can run it on high easily at 1080p

Not yet . Not in this API ( direct X 11)

Maybe in directx 12 or vulkan.

Yes, because they have 2x4GB cards. Even though they don't stack, GTA V decides to stack in just the numbers. Just ignore them.

Dx12 comes with windows 10 supposedly. I would think around November/December this year we will start to see it being used.

everything stacks, just not the memory. the data in graphic memory is duplicated so each card has an exact copy to work on.
