980ti will it happen?

Do you guys think that the 980ti will ever be a reality.

I believe not but post your opinion and reasoning down bellow. :)

I don't think it will.

Because the 980 is already the full chip.

Sig under construction.

There's rumors that it's a GM200 chip with less VRAM, so I say it will exist.

NO because EVGA made a K|NGP|N for the 980 and they only make the K|NGP|IN for the highest teir card

Why would people ever need less vram have they seen the amount of vram a game like GTA V uses up?

Maybe it'll be a Titan Y or something. I still have a feeling that it won't be a 980Ti, because it won't have the same chip as the 980.

If i'm correct then the 780ti to a 780 was just a higher clock speed. In a way doesn't EVGA already do that sell cards with different over clocks on them?

Not with that name, unless they wanna screw their already bad naming scheme, a 980 ti would be between the 980 and titan x, not that big of a gap since the 980 is for 1440p and the titan x is for 4k, looking forward to see a new titan Z or whatever it will be called.

GTX 980 is a full chip. 980 Ti is rumored to be basically a Titan X  with half the vram, and where partners will be able to make their own design.

I don't think it will.

Because the 980 is already the full chip.

We have a Gm200 chip, they can simply take a Gm200 core, and give it 6gb of vram instead of 12, voila. 980TI

@OP

IMO it makes perfect sense, people will buy the 980 still, as well as the Titan X, even the 980 TI if it's priced around $750.

People on a budget will get a 970/980, people that are smart with their money and have a lot to spend will get a 980 TI, people that want the behemoth that is the Titan X will still get the Titan X.

If we get aftermarket versions of the 980 TI as well, that'll be wonderful, since people not wanting the reference cooler & reference VRM will get those.

I know for sure if a 980 TI  LIGHTNING is released i'll sell my 970's and probably get 1 or 2 980 TI lightnings for benching & overclocking, as well as 144hz 1440p /4k if its ever released.

Not to sound like a fanboy or anything, but AMD's naming scheme is pretty bad too...
