Nah, with some long skype calls, you could probably get him to understand all the components and how they work together in maybe 2 weeks. Then just make sure you're there to guide him through the build process like you would guide a blind man through a brain surgery.

We've got that issue in the computer lab I run at my school. The PCs were set up before I got there, though, and they didn't let me set up the ones they brought in last year.

But people... they need to read. I've seen "Does this work with Verizon" and "What is the screen resolution," etc. and so many dumb answers so many times...
