980.

I'd rather have one single card rather thab 2 because SLI isn't globally supported and seems buggy

980, even with price included, less to worry about down the line even if it is only slightly ahead of the 970

It depends really on the budget and to what kind of CPU you are running its like lets say u have a core i7 or core i5 and 8 gigs of ram. and u somehow have limited budget for GPU then going for 970 will be a good idea but if its like the other guy said if performance wise then go for 980 and i my self will recommend Asus :)

Intel Core i5 - 6400 <> Msi B150A Gaming Pro <> Msi Gtx 970 Gaming <> G.Skill Ripjaw 4 16Gb DDR4 2400mhz

<> Corsair CX500M <> 160 & 250 Seagate HDD <> Aerocool Strike X (Casing) <>

What games you are playing?

and whats the res?

1080P with a GTX980 will be kinda wasteful of the extra 100+ dollars

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

There's always something "coming out soon". Broadwell's coming out soon. Skylake's coming out soon. If you need a new CPU or GPU now, get one now. Don't spend your life waiting for the next thing to come out.

He didn't mention getting anything at all; just which was better out of the 970 and 980. Even if it weren't completely offtopic to mention the 300 series, it's silly to mention them since we have literally no idea what they're going to be like.

I was making a simple suggestion, no need to get so salty.
