I live near new york city, i'm not nearly fast enough to get any great deals like that

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

Sweet deal.

I got a HD7950 for $90 AUD

Turns out it has the custom performance bios going around on it,.. 1100/1400 bios bootup without MSI even seeing an OC yet...

I've pushed it again to 1150Mhz, but seems I'm nicely binned with the 1000/1250 stock bios > 1100/1400 OC bios and still not hit 70*c yet...

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Nice. The guy I got this from said he had it running 1400 stable, but I am not sure if that was boost or not. I'll definitely be messing around with it.

Boost or no boost, 1400Mhz is damn nice to have, and the 900 series also does enjoy some memory clocking as well,.. moreso than previous cards memory gains.

This one was in Minneapolis, so but I got lucky in that I took a 10 minute train ride to near where the seller worked.

And I thought my $100 AUD 7870LE was a good buy

Keeping in mind it benchmarks better then a 670 and OFTB 7950 with the OC i have on it

Scrapyard Build Total Cost: $268AUD

Even with the expected 1000/1250 clocks it was a good buy, and I am happy as hell I got it before anyone else did (advertised a week b4 I got it)

Lucky me that it has the OC-profile custom bios and still low temps.

Yeah but the OC profile just shows that it's going to have a shorter lifespan due to being OC'd (especially being second hand, coil whine is bound to happen soon)  :P

my 7870 was always run at stock clocks as when i asked the guy he looked really confused and didn't even know what afterburner was

I've had a few of these myself, coinwhile is not as big of an issue for these cards... out of the 10 I've seen, only 2 whine in extreme FPS situations. (200FPS+)

The OC profile isn't using ANY extra voltage whatsoever,.. factory standard voltages :)

Anyone with a GPU should have come across MSI Afterburner at some point lol... even in a passing moment... you'd check it out.

yeah I wasnt too worried about it being OC'd and running on higher temps after that lol

They are certainly little powerhouses the 7870's, quite a few can exceed the HD7950's stock performance.

It's the tahiti ones that are the good ones.

I have the MYST powercolour one and although the cooling is tragic it performs really well.

I'm thinking about attacking it with my dremel and cutting out some vents on the shroud and attaching a couple 80mm fans or something either side of the original fan. Should give me a dramatic difference considering people have removed the fan+shroud and had dual 120mm fans in the PCI slot next to it (blowing onto the card, reducing temps by 10c)

There are plenty of likeminded fellows who have modded the Red team.

Google - The Red Mod.

Google - Arctic Cooling Mods

Should be a nice solution for your cooling if you want better options.

/I strapped a Noctua 92mm onto my 5770, works great considering...
