CPU heatsink+Case compatibility question

NoobsWeStand
Go to solution Solved by jameshumphries47,

I have never dived into the area of all in one liquid coolers

How long do they last? Do they require any more maintenance than an air cooler?

i have never had one die, and no they dont. plug em in and thats it! i keep rad and fans externally clean, but i dont/never will change fluid! when it dies i hope to get a full loop! but my card is a 280 and i cant find a block for it :(

What is the largest size that case can manage?

h80i?

No, the H80i is bad for the price. If you want an AiO, get the X41

What is a good CPU cooler that will fit in this case?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147170

I know the hyper 212 evo will not fit, as the heatsink is too tall

It has to cool a 8350, so it kind of has to be beefy   :P

edit: Also, the ram profile is of normal height

Thanks

I can't find a published number for heatsink clearance. Without that it's impossible to say, unless you can physically inspect the case with a mobo that has a CPU already on it. The H80i is a decent suggestion as it would fit to the rear exhaust hole. IMO only buy a case that tells you what height cooler will fit inside. That means the manufacturer at least thought about after-market cooling, which is good for you.

This is for a friend of mine, which is having overheating problems with his cpu. I did not get to pick the case  :P

no, unless the case doesn't have a 140mm exhaust

https://www.nzxt.com/product/detail/145-kraken-x41-liquid-cooler.html

I think the case only has 120mm exhaust

Alright. I guess I will be throwing the h80i, and a couple of the nzxt ones at him then

Thanks for your help!

Get the X31 if you can't get the X41.
