If you had the option would you get a single Titan x or sli 980's?

You would be using it for gaming.

Titan X and not have to deal with SLI issues.

Titan X, and then Titan X Sli. The only 980 worth to even consider now (not right now tough :P) is the Asus 20th Anniversary Edition and Evga 980 Kingpin Edition. Its just as good as 980's can get (Great oceing potential). They promise a 15% performance improvement over reference ones. But a Titan X reference would still be 25% - 35% better than the Asus Special 980 or Evga 980 Kingpin Classified.

Titan X.  I have SLI 980's but the problems with SLI are now becoming few and far between......at least from my experience.

I have a potato!

Stick with your GTX980 SLI. You are playing with a RoG Swift and 2 GTX980s are good enough.

I already have two 980's. No planning on getting a Titan x. Was just curious on what everyone thought.

More like 50-60.

A titan x is 180% of a 980.

Edit: I would do the Titan X. No sli issues, its 180% of a 980, so you're not wasting money, and is actually cheaper than sli 980s. And you get MAJOR bragging rights.

I'd wait for the new ATi cards, get the best one, then spend the cash difference on hookers & alcohol.

I prefer hookers and blow, but this will do.

Probably. Haven't seen a whole shitload of benches, but I plan to get one myself. You could definitely do it at low and probably medium, maybe high, possibly ultra. You could always go for another in the future. (I am lowballing these estimates, BTW. Go look at benches and confirm it for yourself)

Ask me this question in a few months, tomorrow I have well 1(on order), and by July should have 3-4!

I'm buying a 4K TV for the office anyway but for gaming I may go surround 1440p at 144hz... I can always connect via hdmi to the Tv if I want to play at 4K.

I wouldn't hesitate to get an sli setup anymore. Scaling is getting very good 40%+ in most titles and a lot of the micro stutter, bad driver support, ect. that were big issues a few card generations ago are almost gone.

It's looking like the price to performance between the titan x and 980 sli is nearly the same really. The one upside of the single titan x is if you do decide you need more power down the road, a titan x 2 way sli setup would be much better than 3 or 4 way gtx 980 sli.
