Btw. the LTI is a very interesting subject. I think that the insurance in the final game will be much more expensive that most folk believe. I know CR is saying it's gonna be cheap but at the same time he makes a game that has perma-death. It's to make people play reasonably - to force them to be responsible in the verse. For the same reason the insurance will have to become a real cost so that pilots don't crash their ships against the wall just for fun.

My impression was it would at least start off as a fairly low cost with the replacement lead time and the fact that you would loose your cargo and upgrades being the two main detractors, I haven't heard anything mentioned about cargo and upgrade insurance since the early days so IDK if that's still a thing, either way that will be a cost adder even for the LTI guys and possibly the main source of cost and lead times (making it cheap to start but more expensive once you know what your doing). Then if you crash regularly I can see both the cost and lead times increasing as punishment and to avoid abuse. I also expect cost and lead times to scale with the ship so while I would expect the initial cost to be fairly trivial I would also expect the cost to insure an Orion to be substantially higher than an Aurora (especially if you can get cargo insurance ;)) likewise something like an Orion likely wont be sitting on a shelf so you will have manufacturing lead times as apposed to just shipping and paperwork lead times on something like an Aurora (all being affected by supply and demand in your reigon too).

Going by what's been said on TFTC they are definitely being mindful of the abuse factor however they end up doing it but I also got the impression they were trying to minimise the LTI affect so it is more of a convenience than an advantage.

Not what I was referring to @Corwin111

I am writing this from a gondola car on my way to the slopes. And that's what I intend to be doing until monday. So they're all yours, mate. ;)

@Grrizz

From what I gather, devs do bring up the need of equipment (hardpoint additions beyond base ship setup) and cargo insurance every so often. Still seems to be a point.

So for a trader, you will have this against your profit:

Information

- cut for the agent or contact broker that arranges the deal

Logistics:

- fuel

- rentals for space, specialized equipment, hangars

Taxes

- planet to planet tariffs

- applicable sales tax

Insurances and other just-in-case

- escorts, mercenaries

- hull insurance

- other unspecified ship insurance (quality scanners, silent engines, jump engine)

- cargo insurance

@CommanderFett @Corwin111

Seems now you can actually pick your winnings, granted there isn't an upset.
