Parents who don't stop children playing Call of Duty to be reported to POLICE warn schools

ObilvionNizer

Either way, ultimately, it's none of the schools business. Unless physical abuse or neglect is ongoing, they have no right to say anything about it.

By the same logic, saturday morning cartoons should be banned.

of course it the schools business. they are just as responsible for the children welfare and well being and should be allowed to intervene whenever they find it necessary.  the fact is they have far more knowledge of a child development and well being than 99% of parents. also there is abuse happening if it negatively effects the upbringing of the child, and it does.

and there is a huge difference between Saturday morning cartoons and gta, and you know it.

Absolutely. Tom & Jerry teaches children that it's okay to abuse cats.

And pokemon teaches children that its okay to fight animals against each other.

Dora the Explorer is racist (or at least the Diego one is, everytime I see him he's trying to get across some water)

etc.

By this logic, that distinction cannot be made. And no, the school has NO right what so ever here.

They can advise parents all they want, but that child does not belong to them in any way. If this is okay, then guess what, your kids aren't yours anymore, they are property of the state.

And then, once this kind of mentality sets in, it wont be long before EVERYONE is property of the state. "it's for your own good".

Collectively from news about the UK. Sexting is pretty common among middle schoolers, that's where I can see the heighten blame/finger pointing on video games for sexualised behaviors. As for violence, haven't heard any news about school shootings or violence in schools. Really the school should be taking priority on the issue elsewhere, because kids will still be exposed to this stuff, and the games don't usually prove the greatest outcome being that violence is good in the long run. With that being inevitable, its better to educate the kids and try to list the consequences out of them rather than attacking the parent for letting the kid be exposed in the first place. The blame is coming off like that you shouldn't let television supervise your kid while your gone, it's in the parents duty to expose their kids to stuff.

If your kid was addicted to the game, it would mostly be the online content (unless your playing something like skyrim), it would be totally different from just being purely from violence of the game.

Thats actually funny. The teachers 90% of time probably wont care unless you go around pretending to cut off peoples limbs or shoot them a hundred times.

What happened kids cant play cops and robbers anymore. Ironically i remember being told by a teacher when i was a kid "go play cops and robbers, dragonball z,  or something, socialize you might make a new friend."

This has been going on for years. 12 year olds playing GTA is probably worse.

by your logic schools cant step in in abuse cases then....the parent dosent think there doing wrong and the child dosent belong to them so they should leave it alone..... serioulsy put down the tin hat and realize people need the sate to tell them what to do....there all too stupid to figure that out for themselves.  just looks countries with no state intervention because thats the way forward

Enjoy your socialist hell hole where no one is allowed to have more than anyone else, or do better than anyone else.

People have been raising children just fine without the state intervening in every last detail of their lives for quite a while now. The fact that most of society aren't violent psychopaths as a result of video games, kinda proves that.

Also, considering your piss poor spelling and grammar, I think the tax payers in your country need their money back.

The teachers could inform parents of anything that the child is doing which is deemed as 'wrong' but the parent might think 'oh thats not wrong'. If a child is talking about a game such as GTA or CoD the teachers have no right to inform the Police and Social Services about them playing a game.

A under 15 year old could have an older brother/sister who has GTA and lets the child play it. If the parents are OK with that then the Government (UK has the same laws through all countries that make it up unlike US that has different laws per state)  has no right to tell a parent what is right or wrong.

In my personal opinion kids should play games like GTA or CoD which should allow them to relise what the world is like. They need to know that the world  is a cruel dark Mistress and not a sheltered playpen. What happens if they were walking in a town centre at the age of 17 and they dont they think that everything is fine and nothing will happen to them, then someone attacks them or sees someone get attacked and they don't know to call the police etc?

It's rated 18... but that's just the age you have to be to buy it. It's parent's discretion.

The article was even better though: "The schools said the games could increase "early sexualised behaviours" and could even leave children open to sexual exploitation. " ...Call of Duty?

They should just ban the internet then, like half the internet is porn.

Well, in the UK they're pretty much required to cooperate, and can go to jail for self defense.

They should also ban Games consoles because they have internet browsers built in now and even a underage child can get on it and search something they think is harmless and porn could appear for example/

According to reports, the husband used his weapon to fire at the intruders, who then fled the isolated farmhouse before calling police.

Yes, that's right: Both of the burglars were shot and wounded, and one of them actually called the cops. But he must've known what he was doing because his victim got arrested for nothing more than defending his home.

"This is not the first time they have been broken into," said the arrested man's mother, in comments to the paper. "They have been robbed three or four times. One of them was quite nasty."

The mother went on to say the couple has never been injured during the series of robberies, but obviously they were "marked" as an "easy score" by the local thugs, and it might only have been just a matter of time before "quite nasty" turned, literally, into something quite nasty. Victims are never empowered; only criminals who are allowed to operate unchallenged are empowered.

In this case the intruders never attacked the farmer. He was jailed for shooting him.

1.
the act of defending one's person when physically attacked, as by countering blows or overcoming an assailant:
the art of self-defense.
2.
a claim or plea that the use of force or injuring or killing another was necessary in defending one's own person from physical attack:
He shot the man who was trying to stab him and pleaded self-defense at the murder trial.

Right, because it's better to just let people get repeatedly burglarized rather then allow them to send a message.

Way to defend your own government forcing you to be a victim. Someone breaks into my house, they get a warning shot, and then a leg wound, unless they break in with a gun, which changes things drastically.
