Hello, I want to ask what is better to buy.

First of all, I'm a web designer, so I work very often with Photoshop or Illustrator. Also I like playing games, but they are not my first priority.

I'm thinking about custom build PC with i7, GTX980 or something (if I decide to build, I will create my own thread for some tips from you guys  :) ). But I saw new iMac 5K and now I'm thinking about it. So the question is what to buy? Pros and cons for both systems. Like I said games are not my priority.

Thanks.  :)

PC.

You can't really do gaming on Mac and I prefer Windows over Mac OSX for Photoshop and stuff.

The imac 5k is absurdly underpowered for something that costs that much. You can literally buy a pc with the same specs as well as two 4k ips monitors and still spare a lot of money. It also thermal throttles under load. There is no contest really, a pc is the only way to go.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

A PC is always better for the price, and customability. Only reason you'd get an iMac, would be for the OS (which can easily be put onto a PC), or the design (I dont like it tbh.)

Get a PC, with a core series if you're into gaming, or a xeon series if u need fast rendering.

Quadro/firepro for rendering, GTX/Radeon for gaming.

The iMac 5k to be frank, is shit. It's extremely underpowered and the only good thing is the display. The components can't power the display

Yeah, and if you need to run windows on it, then it has some weird issues and it runs only at 4k max.

how about a hackintosh

mac and pc on a pc..with a pc price

This would be a much better thing to do if you like osx...

I will buy an iMac or MacBook Pro in one week but only because I will develop for iOs platform and I want to have a valid license and all of that, but after that I will buy a good PC, a 4790k, It's just the best ;)

Good luck!

Seems like you made up your mind already.

A PC is obviously the better buy, much more machine for the cost. You could get a good 5820K build for the iMac 5K's price.

But if you want an iMac, just buy one.

I know that PC is better to buy for the cost, but I want to know both machines performance on graphic programs. I don't want to know how much is cost PC or iMac. Both are expensive.

Custom PC, you can configure the parts yourselves. If you want a "Mac" you can Hackintosh the PC. Mac isn't made for gaming, so if you do gaming it's not a good idea to choose a mac.

Either or will work. The only things you need to make sure you got in a Photoshop and etc computer are plenty of ram, good many multicore CPU or a hyperthreaded one, and a gpu designed for the tasks your looking at. The PC will save you more money however, getting equal or even more performance for cheaper in your tasks.

Yes, I'd still recommend a PC because...

I know that PC is better to buy for the cost, but I want to know both machines performance on graphic programs. I don't want to know how much is cost PC or iMac. Both are expensive.

OK then let's make this perfectly clear.

A PC is either

CHEAPER for the SAME performance the iMac offers. This includes everything from graphic programms like photoshop, illustrator and co. As well as gaming.

or

WAY more performance for the SAME money. This includes everything from graphic programms like photoshop, illustrator and co. As well as gaming.

There is exactly ONE and only ONE reason to get an iMac. The OS. If you like the OS more buy the iMac. But rest assured: You will pay 4 digit bucks for that OS, indirectly due to getting WAY inferior hardware. This WAY inferior hardware will make all your programms run worse, but you will have mac OS! For this reason there are guides on how to build a Hackintosh. So build a more powerful PC and just install MacOS on it.

Again: iMacs are WAY WAY,...WAY overpriced for what they offer. The only resonable producs they have are their Smartphones and their ultrabooks (Air line only). The remaining products pack a premiun price tag that is out of space. Yes it is THAT bad and nothing can make up for that.

That being said: If you don't care for either money or performance, get an iMac. They look nice.

Thank you for your post! :)

Money are not big problem. Because, I'm from Europe and here iMac 5K with i7 cost ~3000€, and if I'm going to build PC it would cost even more. But I can't choose now... :D I will do my research more and more. If I'm going to build PC, I will contact you guys!

Sorry for my bad English... :(
