Well the report calls it an "unprovoked physical and verbal attack" now unless Clarkson comes out and says it's all wrong and it didn't happen that says it all.   Of course not everyone who punches someone is an asshole e.g. in self defence but anyone who unprovoked punches someone is an asshole and when it's happens at work the asshole should be fired.

I'm just copying over my comments from one of the other threads, so bits of it might not sound off right.

Personally I think it's hard to reinstate someone who has purposely landed someone in hospital, no matter how high profile they are. He deserved what he's done, and his failure to change his attitude has been his downfall.
Don't get me wrong, I think clarkson is an outstanding presenter, is a hilarious guy and was pretty nice when I met him, but he did deserve to be sacked. It's a shame that top gear will no longer be the same, especially as hammond and may will move to other things (at least let James Mays man lab continue to be made) but they're doing it for their friend, so I can understand.
The BBc have just shot themselves in the foot, and I don't think top gear will be able to be shown for at least 5-10 years, at least not in its current format, however if they do decide to bring it back the same, then they're going to need to get presenters who are all friendly and are happy to talk on stage like they're sat in a pub, much like clarkson hammond and may actually did.
My suggestions for new presenters would be Chris Harris, Alan Mcnish and Jenson Button (when he retires from F1) as I think they're the sort of people who are cheerful, conversational and Chris Harris isn't afraid of controversy, so there's still a bit of an edge to it, but it'll encourage a new type of viewer and may be more appealing to women as well, which seemed to be lacking. (Ferrari have only just forgiven Chris Harris for a couple of comments he made in the past)

Considering the BBC have stated that Clarkson physically then sustainedly verbally assaulted a man who had done very little wrong, that sounds a lot like the main facts. The BBC are also going to fully publish the entire report because of the significance of the events, so we will all know for sure why Clarksons contract has not been extended.

 

I'm going to say that the 3 episodes that should have been shown may still get air time, as the BBC have said they don't intend to "do a nixon" on the tapes. I believe that they will just merge them into one episode to be shown, possibly a christmas special or something like that.

Oh I agree with that people who signed petitions/voted on oniline polls one way or the other based on the initial reports are idiots but now we have the official report to go on which makes it fairly easy to comment on.  An unprovoked assault in the workplace is gross misconduct and Clarkson can feel lucky he's 'just' not had his contract renewed.

Let's hope there's no clause in his contract that forbids him to do another car show.  If the 3 of them would start another show on any other channel, they could really hit the BBC hard.

He made Top Gear what it is today. At least though, it ended while it was still good rather than ending when it begins to go down hill.
