GPU/PCI-E expansion card in 5.25" bay? why not?

So if I used my own gen3 16X cable I could have 3 way in a M-atx case?

this could actually be really useful for people who record console games, have the ports on the front of the computer instead of the back and all...

this sounds great for folders like me... instead of getting tons of pcie extention cables to fit more gpus in a case than it can hold and having them just lay on top of eachother unsafly. id rather do this and take up space in my front bays and have them safly mounted and beable to fold on them... this is great and ill probaly buy a few of these one day.

I did not even think about that, that is an awesome idea

With this you can make it so that all your IO is on the front and you can put your case flat against the wall (if that doesn't mess with your air flow, and power cable) I like this. It may not have that many use cases but I can see some, how about sound cards, for your headphones it would be way beter to hook them up to the front I think.

Who would want to actually do this?

Both who and why..

I mean..i'm sure somebody would find a reason for it...but..like...what kind...

Not gonna lie, I'd use this. I'm planning on using the second pcie slot on my new motherboard to have a card that just folds whenever the system is on, but I only have a Matx case, so otherwise I'd need a single slot card. With this, I could have a double width card.

Also, if I had the money for it, I'd use a 295x2 as my main card and snag a 290x and trifire them with this just so I could say that I had trifire in an Matx case.

I would consider this if it were a bit cheaper. I would use it for my aver media capture card. But things might look funny if you have a side window.

Ummm errrr......Yeah I got nothing can't think of a single reason other then wanting to reduce cooling performance of the card and make your case look like pure ass.

Could be pretty cool for io cards like the Thunderbolt EXII or a USB 3.1 card you want to have accessible from the front.

But imo the ugly green PCB and extra wiring to manage isn't worth it at all.

Someone invested time and money into making this and nobody ever stopped to think "will anyone want this".

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. lol

Nice but expensive. Pci risers can be obtained for cheaper and they are full x16 bandwidth

This doesn't really make sense to me.

The only time I could see this being useful is if someone really wanted the I/O to be easily accessible on the front of the case.

This just makes me want to look up what cool shit I can throw in my 5.25" bays that isn't this.

Nice invention, but really outdated and expensive.

maybe will be useful for those using weird cases.
