What is your reasoning behind getting a sound card? they're not always the best option

An amp and dac would be better, something like an Objective 2 by epiphany acoustics (look on overclockers, they've got them there) or a fiio E10K for example.

Usually motherboard audio is good enough and what Turtle Beach headphones? Because many of them are USB

That headset has a USB connection does it not?

It is not to plug a headset into. It is to plug a 6.3mm jack into from things such as guitars.

It's Turtle Beach... you won't notice a difference by spending $100 on a sound card

the usb amp on my turtle beach x12 just hisses.... my $7 monoprice 9396 are better... I Personally still get a slight hiss, but that's my 6 year old motherboard (I can hear it load stuff...), so I would say upgrade your headphones then get a sound card or amp/dac.

You mean so that you can record audio from it? Anything else that you'll be using it for?

a headphone amp would be better if you just want it to be louder, it's going to be cheaper and you can take it around with you for your phone etc.

If you move beyond a headset to headphones then I'd suggest and amp & DAC combo, as others have suggested but this would be somewhat expensive.

Edit:

I just saw it's not for headphones/headsets but instruments so take a look at this link http://amazon.co.uk/Alesis-Guitar-Link-Audio-GuitarLink/dp/B002IDTPB2

It's only £17 and I've known people to use it without complaint
