GTX 970 Owners Club

Hey @Gofspar, since you're an expert in 970's... Does memory OC improve performance that much?

I achieved 1565 Core and 1966 Memory (3933 Effective) stock voltage and BIOS

It seems that I got a crappy Samsung memory, it artifacts at 2000Mhz :(

Any tips for memory OC or I should leave it like that?

memory OC makes a huge difference

memory OC makes a huge difference

In everything? I can't go past 3950 :'( crappy samsung. Overvolting can help or everything is lost?

I noticed that it starts to artifact after some time, not right away. Maybe the memory chips are getting too hot?

This card is a beast. It runs Crysis 3 multiplayer at 70-80's with settings all very high an MSAA 2x @ 1080P. My GPU runs at 1470mhz and 4010mhz memory. My memory has more room for OCing but I think my core will be lucky to hit 1500mhz.

Am I able to use a single wire running from my PSU to my GPU if it has a split on the other side that I can use 6+2 and 6 to plug into the 970 100ME edition power slots?

As of now, I'm using two different wires each with an 8-pin PSU connection. This makes for excess wire management and takes away from the sleekness!

Also, this is proof that you ignore what other people post, b/c one of mine (on the correct thread) included a 3D Mark FireStrike Ultra score both in 3DMark result format as well as its MSI AB counterpart of the same test, showing the gpu at a constant 100%. Had you actually bothered to read the post, this could have been avoided in the first place.

A bit late, but 100% GPU utilization on 3DMark in your case is impossible, I know for a fact. My GTX 680 fluctuated between 60-80% utilization in the combined tests. You're either lying, withholding information, or you consider strictly GPU dependent benchmarks an indicator of CPU performance.

On that same note, an i5-4440 runs a GTX 970 at 100%, which I also know for a fact because I can go get results again.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

Damn :( that's sad man.

So far I managed to get 1580Mhz with stock voltage, haven't touched the memory. Hope this card runs good.

@Gofspar is overvolting to go past 1600Mhz worth it?

Geek it 'till it MHZ, of course 1.3v and 1600+mhz is worth it, thats when you start beating 980's.

and the memory voltage controller is locked, if you can do 1900mhz+ it's what I consider good, what you see from my card is insane and most people shouldn't compare to my card,

@Gofspar are these shunt resistors for 970 G1 Gaming?

Hello everyone,my first post here. I have the gtx 970 g1 gaming from january 2015, and now with summer coming, temps are starting to concern me.

With fan profil on auto i got temperatures like 69-73 in new games, like gta 5. From what i know, on auto, if i got 68 degrees, the fan is working at 68%.

Is it bad for the card if i change the fan curve like this (attached photo).

I also got i5 4460, sirtec hig power 500w, ssd Samsung 840.

Your cards temperature with auto fan profile was fine, there's no need for steeper fan profile. Card will be fine, but more audible at load.

its firestrike ultra, which is two "levels" heavier than normal firestrike. theres both the msi AB log file as well as the 3dmark.result file. go ahead and look at it, you might wanna make sure you have your facts straight before calling someone a liar.

So basically unless you have a 4K monitor and you game strictly on 4K, you're running unrealistic GPU loads and calling those results and that your CPU can't bottleneck?

OK.

@Gofspar could this shunt resistor be related to voltage controller?

that's PCI-E amperage I think. It might be voltage controller related though, try it

Ok, once I get around to getting a waterblock this will be useful-I wonder if my card will be able to hit 1600MHz with enough voltage and cooling.

Just to clarify, It is 100% okay to use a SINGLE 8 pin power connector to power the gt 970 even though the gtx 970 needs BOTH an 8 pin and 6 pin (14 pins total) connector?

The 8 pin connector I'll be using has 8 pins going into the PSU, but it has a split on the other end, allowing for 6+2 and 6+2 connections, so basically 18 pins total.

Does you 970 have the 8 + 6 power connector as well? I haven't seen a card with two before this 970
