[Lulz] - The Facebook 'Feeling Fat' Emoji Is No More

xeromynd

Wat? The emoji is still there (under "stuffed") and you can just key in the text "fat" for the same exact outcome.

You've made no ground socialists.

Well, it is. You can't compare being fat to being gay because one has been linked to several health issues such as heart diseases and the other is harmless. Also, you can't choose what sexual preferences you have, but you can choose what you put in your own mouth.

"Fat acceptance" makes as much sense as "heroin addiction acceptance". Obviously you shouldn't be mean to either of them because they have problems. You shouldn't encourage them to continue though, because that just does more harm than good.

Actually even though you can have control over what you eat and how much you exercise, there is such a thing as genetic predisposition to be chubby (Not obese) and being so doesn't means one is particularly less healthy or even athletic (I shall point you to numerous strength based Athletes and such). So it's not a black and white area so to speak, not that sexuality is either (otherwise you couldn't explain bisexuality)

And yes just to piss you off even more (for the lols) there is such a thing as people with more propensity to substance abuse as well, particularly coming from traumatic experiences they might not have control over.

Sorry but I am not upset. Yes different body types exist, but body type has to do with where fat gets distributed, not how much you have. It is impossible to gain weight if you use more energy than you take in. It is also impossible to not gain weight if you take in more energy than you consume. It's simple biology, and that part is black and white.

Yep I absolutely believe in some people being more in danger of substance abuse. I won't argue against that or body types.

What I am arguing against is people who say things like this:

By removing it because it can "reinforce a negative body image" they are literally saying that being fat is negative.

There is nothing wrong with being fat to the same extent that there is nothing wrong with being thin. Let people have whatever body type they want. Some of the fat people I know IRL embrace it. Which I think is the right attitude, the only way to get rid of the social stigma around being "fat" is to god damned fucking embrace it. Gay people haven't gained acceptance by hiding and feeling ashamed, they did it by embracing themselves.

Being fat is dangerous, so we shouldn't "embrace it" any more than we embrace heroin addicts. People who are very overweight and can't control themselves needs help, not bullshit lies like "being fat is healthy" (which it isn't, it's linked to bunch of illnesses).
