The 770 is a bit better though....

yes it is but the 770 is a higher tier, 960 is a replacement for the 760. this kid is saying every gen of gpus gets less performance

No where did I say each gen of gpus gets less performance. Since you apparently have no logical thinking skills I'll make it real easy to understand. These are general steps and there is a slight difference in performance within each teir. It generally goes down one "model name". The performance can change with differnet settings, like how a 960 beats a 670 with no AA but the 670 wins with 4xMSAA or higher due to larger bus width, which results in higher bandwidths so overall they're close but the 960 is a tiny bit faster for the average gamer as running 4xMSAA will be too much of a performance drop for most gamers wanting 60+fps. When it comes to the x70 and x80 cards they usually will have an extra performance boost when new architexture is realeased like in the case of the 970/980 or whith slight overclocks on rebrands.

                     >                                                                                   > 980

                     > 780ti                                                                          >

                     >                                                                                   > 970

                     > 780                                                                            >

                     >                                                                                   > 960ti?

680               > 770 (overclocked 680) rebrand                                 >

670               >                                                                                   > 960 (see above, is faster than 670 w/o AA)

                     > 760 (shoud've been 760ti, 670 - 192 cudas)             >

660ti             >                                                                                   >

660               >                                                                                   > 950ti?

650ti boost   > 750ti (new)                                                                 > 950?

650ti             > 750 (new)                                                                  >

650               >                                                                                   >

So, DUH, each generagetion gets faster but each new generation lower tier reaches the last gen higher teir. Not that hard of a concept.

seriously OP, naming and shaming is pretty low. if you disagree with a point or think something is stupid you should discuss it where you found it instead of making a post "Lulz so stoopid" to try and make fun of someone in a different thread.

besides, he is more or less correct in his point.

I'm seriously confused why this is such a terrible idea. This is how I estimate performance, like if someone asks me about the performance of a 780 i know that the closest 900 series is a 970.

Its pretty simple, they introduce a new performance king (980) and everything lower is equivalent to a level up on the older generation. I understand that it's not exactly the same cause it's not a rebrand and they have other changes but more or less it's a pretty solid estimation.

980ti = best

980 = 780ti + a little

970 = 780 + a little

you get the idea

The newer generation tends to be several frames faster than the previous gen but still comparable.
