Any chance to see a GTX 990 released by April 2015?

Go to solution Solved by aidenrelkoff,

As far as i have heard, no never. there are no 90 series cards like: 790, 890, 990.

except for the 690

I'm thinking of purchasing a GeForce GTX 980 graphics card but at the same time i want to wait until the GTX 990 model is released - i suppose it will be a dual-core card based on GTX 980. Is there a reasonable chance that 990 will be released by mid or late April this year?

By the way, i haven't seen any news or rumors lately about 990, only about 980 Ti and Titan X. Has nVidia abandoned all current plans for GTX 990?

I think Titan has kinda filled the x90 line.

Maybe another dual titan card will make it much later.

Although depending what AMD do, perhaps nvidia will make a good value 990 card...

But really no one knows.

Bleigh!  Ever hear of AC series?

well there won't be a 980 ti because all of the cores on the 980 are already unlocked so can't get a ti version but if you want a 990 so badly just get 2 980's

Heh, i could've sworn there were GTX 790 models out there for sale, but after a quick search it seems indeed that 690 is the last of that series, 790 never made it out of the rumours stage. And you're probably right, 990 may not make it either.

I don't intend on doing 4K gaming yet - i don't even plan on buying displays with resolution higher than 1920 x 1080 and the idea of multi-monitor gaming doesn't really appeal to me -, do you think it's worth buying the second card too right now? I do intend though to buy a 144 Hz display so i'd like to have average FPS higher than 100 for the highest quality settings in the typical modern games, but as far as i know from some benchmarks a single GTX 980 can reach 100+ FPS quite often for 1080p.

I dont expect a 990. There was no 790, i think they have abandoned dual gpu cards, probably a too small market.

Titan X and then new naming scheme for the cut down versions of the GM200...and full fledged ones in case the titan X has some SMX units disabled (which it will probably be having one or two disabled)

^oh ok, just wondering.  A buddy of mine wants to upgrade and if they release a 6gb version of the titanX at the $600-700 price point, that would surely be the card to get.  I am running into ram issues with my 4gb card and know getting a 6gb card now would surely help the future with 4k.
