Game crashing because of 970?

I built a PC for my bro. When ever he plays games he crashes and gets a black screen that says no signal detected. Is this a faulty card? I did not overclock it and i have it paired with a i7 4790k and 750w PSU so no power or CPU bottlenecks. Also another question, has anyone ever returned a asus card? And if you did was the customer service good? Thanks!

Asus is pretty OK all round but is generally better in some regions.
