Me mum got a few flowers in the garden, but nothing special.

Do live near places that grow flowers, but they more often grow vedfetables like cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers :P

And we got quite a few flower shops here. Many people give flowers for birthdays and other special occasions.

I don't really give them often, but tulips and all flowers which look like roses always work.

My favorite flowers are probably Narcissus (the yellow ones) or Hyacinths, but I don't think those are nice looking for long.

Do they need to look good for a long time ?

And nice choices.

Well you want flowers to last some times. Some type of flowers go bad in a day or two and some last for a week or longer. (in a vase with water)

But it really depends on your luck too, I have seen how they transport the flowers from the 'farm' to the stores and it all goes really fast.

Understandable.

How do they transport it ?

Understandable.

How do they transport it ?

I once saw a documentary on it, really interesting.

When the flowers are 'harvested', they are gathered at one place (sometimes they have a system like monorails, so they can put the flowers on the system and it transports them to 1 place)

After that they go to this place where they are ordered and auctioned off:

https://youtu.be/slIjWMuKwa0?t=6m49s

After that the buyer does something with it, usually bring to their store or gallery or whatever. But sometimes they have to go even further, like abroad and usually at that point they use an airplane (because it just like food needs to be transported quickly)

It's a big logistic system behind something so mundane when you think about it :P
