Which do i get?

Go to solution Solved by david cassar,

290x is almost twice the card of a 960!! (ok it's probably about 40% faster)

if it's in budget get the 290x! my way of choosing components is to buy the most expensive that you can afford. if it's a h8gher spec card than you need it will just last you longer

It actually is twice the card lmao.

Two gtx 960s are as fast or in some cases actually slower than a gtx 970 or r9 290x

I think it's blatently obvious which one should default for in most instances of an AMD GPU vs an Nvidia GPU, The R9 290(X) cost a little more than a single 970 and a little less than a 980 yet it performs better in most cases.

the 290x costs much less than a 970 and it performs about the same

when you overclock the 970 though it does much better than a 290x

a 980 is significantly better than a 290x

Play on bf4, hardline is coming im a big cod fan and i bought far cry 4 and can only run on low in 720

the 720 is aimed at people who don't have a gpu but want to be able to see what's on screen!! youtube is about as demanding as it gets! a 290x is probably 10 times faster lol you'll see a massive difference!

just make sure you have a 700w psu or above as that's what most 290xs recommend.

Gaming PC: • AMD Ryzen 7 3900x • 16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200mhz • Founders Edition 2080ti • 2x Crucial 1tb nvme ssd • NZXT H1• Logitech G915TKL • Logitech G Pro • Asus ROG XG32VQ • SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless

I'm only going on the recommendations on vendors websites :) I don't own one so can't vouch. but when I was looking originally at getting one most places said 650 to 700w.

290x uses around 200-230watt when Gaming ect. so you can run it fine with a 500Wpsu ;)
