GPU Selection Process

So Im planning on building my first computer. I have done extensive research on the topic and i cant find a GPU that can run ultra 60fps while still standing at under $280. im stuck deciding between the gtx 960 super superclocked and the 970. i would like something in between in term of performance and price. any suggestions are appreciated, also i would prefer to use an nvidia card.

Here is my current build (updated link) http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Cactusneedle_18/saved/#view=hhWj4D

R9 290 can do ultra while staying under $280.

only if you play at 1080p and enjoy 30fps

Ummm... what? Are you kidding me?

You know that if your framerate drops below 60fps you actually only see 30 on your monitor, right?

Unless you use gsync of course, but were talking about AMD here

Not sure what you're trying to prove here, the 900 series isn't even on there.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

proving that a 290 doesnt play all games at ultra on 1080p while still getting 60+fps

I initially made a remark about the R9 290, but edited it out when I saw it was going into a mini ITX case. I thought Enderman was referring to throttling when that case would have a really hard time cooling a 290.

Seems like you quoted the wrong post then. Still, it's not a bad card right? Pretty good value where I live.

Thats true only if you are using V-Sync.. but who uses it anyway....

No, the way a LCD panel works is that if it gets a 60Hz signal it will display the image at 60Hz, but if it gets a 59Hz signal it will display 30Hz

If it could do 59Hz it would be gsync or freesync
