Super AMD Gaming PC Build

Go to solution Solved by JefferyD90,

As far as the Motherboard goes, I would go ahead and get the Crosshair IV. It will be a much better suited motherboard for gaming. Although I did previously own the Sabertooth 990FX myself and loved it.

And as far as the case goes, I'd spring for a full tower build, not a mid tower. With this kind of a system you need all the airflow you can get.

And there is nothing wrong with the FX-9590. I personally would have just got the FX-8350 and OC'ed the hell out of it, and put the extra money to a better video card. But you have not chosen unwisely. Good CPU to go with a good video card.

Since you are getting a ASUS motherboard, go ahead and get the matching video card. No need to cross up your manufactures.

Then I would stick within your budget and choose what you think is best for you and what you can afford especially since the prices are different than where I live   :)

Thanks mate :) anything else you think you'd change in the build? Good idea going for the 750w instead of the 1000w now? estimated consumption is 608w, don't think I'll be adding a second video card for at least a year

The 5820k looks really nice, it is a lot more expensive where I am though, approximately double the price.

Intel 5820k

AMD FX-9590

What about the 4690k? It would still be faster than the 9590 in gaming. Games might start using more threads now but even on all active threads the 9590 still just only about as fast. And 95% of the games out there will not use 8threads, rare to see even more than 4. You will also save money on electricity and cooling and the motherboard.

As far as the psu, do you have evga g2 series over there?

Ryzen 3700x -Evga RTX 2080 Super- Msi x570 Gaming Edge - G.Skill Ripjaws 3600Mhz RAM - EVGA SuperNova G3 750W -500gb 970 Evo - 250Gb Samsung 850 Evo - 250Gb Samsung 840 Evo  - 4Tb WD Blue- NZXT h500 - ROG Swift PG348Q

Do you just have the cpu and case ?

I would personally go with a bigger case (Even though you got the spec-01 for free) as the 9590 runs pretty hot and coupled with a R9 290/X it might get a bit toasty.

The EVGA Supernova G2 power supplies are very good and are usually cheaper than Seasonic.

I would try and go with a bigger AIO cooler or a high end air cooler.

I am sorry, I had to stop reading at "bought a 9590"....

Why do people think paying triple the amount for a highly binned 8320 is reasonable when you could get an i7 and blow it away, even if you got it on a deal an i5 will still beat it in games....

Where I am the price difference is very small, an 8350 is €190 and a 9590 is €240, so the price difference for a guaranteed overclock that comes with the 9590 its not much extra

Very good point, it's about the same price. Wonder what the performance is like when Xsplit streaming while gaming?

As for the EVGA G2, you mean this one?

1300w seems very good for the price, any experience with the EVGA PSUs?

But I am eyeing up either a Define R5 or H440, as I do want something a bit roomier. The chamber separation of the H440 is very nice, but personally find having Optical Drive bays to be useful for things like fan controllers. hmmm..

Thanks man that's really helpful :) Something like a Define R5 or H440 from NZXT be suitable for airflow or need something bigger like a Corsair 730T?

Have a look at the Phanteks Enthoo Pro and Luxe.

I don't know if it would work out cheaper buying from Ireland or UK.

These are a few that I would pick up if I had that system. The H440 is a little small, I don't care enough about Fractal Design to look at their products, and I'm a little old school in not using Corsair for any premium product.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

If you ask me 50 euros is insane for an overclock. I don't think I have heard of a 8350 that couldn't reach 4.6ghz on water, you could surely hit 4.8ghz. My friend has a 8320 and hits 4.6ghz with an evo 212, bad temps but you get what I am trying to say.

Evga g2 series is without a shadow of a doubt the best series of gold modular power supplies. Only being bested by corsair axi series which will set you back about twice as much money. And even then the difference is so little it would never matter.  And unless you are going for triple crossfire you won't need more than 1000w, that being said evga has the p2 series which is platinum rated and they start at 1000w. Their pricing is phenomenal for what you get.

And if you get a corsair RM I will certinaly cry myself to sleep. Nobody should buy that powersupply unless it's 60% off or more.
