PC for gaming. (mostly CS GO)

Ayo, I got a few questions for you tech"nerds" out there.

Im looking into buying a brand new pc which of course will be totally overkill to just play counterstrike.

eVGA GTX 980

I7 5960X Extreme Edition

MSI X99S Gaming-7

Corsair Dominator DDR4 2666mHz

Samsung SSD 850PRO 256GB

WD Red 2TB NAS Hardrive x2

Corsair AX 1200i

Corsair H105 Hydro Series

Will this run CS GO at 300+ FPS stable. And what should i overclock to get the most stable FPS. I've heard that CS:GO is more about single Core/thread than multiple of cores/threads, but since im no tech person then i dont understand anything of that nonsense.. :)

Hopefully you understand my danish version of english since it aint that good hah, and thanks in advance.

why the the heck do you want Cs go to run at 300 fps anyway? lol you could if your monitor has a big refresh rate. the builds super overkill for Cs:go though.

CPU: I5 7400 | Motherboard: MSI H110M  | RAM: 16GB G-Skill 2400mhz  | GPU:  NVIDIA  MSI Gaming 4G GTX 970 | Case: Tecware Quad | Cooling: Stock| Storage: Kingston 120gb SSD, 1TB Drive ,  | PSU: Seasonic 620 Watt 80+ Bronze Full Modular | Display: Devant 50 Inch Smart TV   |

Well first of all its because i want a computer that i dont need to upgrade in the nearest futures..

I got a BenQ 144HZ monitor and ive heard somewhere that you need to run 2 times the HZ you got in FPS so that i need 288 FPS for useing my 144hz monitor to the fullest. (if that even is a word).

Is that true or just bs?

Seems very overkill. 300 fps stable??????? U mad, why would you want that the tearing at that fps would be terrible.

Also if its for gaming get 1 2tb black instead of the red. In addition to that i would go for a i7 4790k. It will be better in games, with that you can get a lga 1150 mobo maybe this http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-maximusviiformula. With that you will need a ddr3 ram kit any 16gb kit will do (even dominator platinums will do like you mentioned before but make sure they are ddr3). Next we come to the power supply. Overkill as fuck. Get a 750 watt (assuming you will wan to add a second 980 in the future) if not get 1 500 watt.

750 watt: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438017&cm_re=evga_supernova-_-17-438-017-_-Product

As to overclocking your cpu its different for all cpu's so we cant really tell you this, if you dont feel comfortable doing it yourself get somebody to help you.

Lastly with all this money we saved we can hopefully buy a second 980 (if not you will have room to add one later).

If you want me to make you a parts list i will (based on your current one) and help you out.

i5 4670k / Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 3 / Asus Maximus vi hero lga 1150 mobo / Sapphire tri-x r9 290 OC edition / corsair vengeance pro red 4 x 4 gb 2133mhz cas 9 ram kit / nzxt phantom 530 black / 120gb samsung 840 evo ssd / 240 gb ocz arc 100 ssd / 2x 1tb WD Blue / Cooler Master v850 modular psu / corsair k70 rgb cherry mx Brown / mad catz rat 5 laser mouse / windows 10

No that snot true 1 fps = 1 hz therefore 144 fps = 144hz

Sigh.. I can't take these threads seriously anymore. "PCPartpicker -> Sort by price -> Add to list." Is that all people do to make "builds" nowadays? You can play CS:Go at 144fps+ on a $600 build.. You can play it at 4K at 144FPS+ on a $1,000 build.. Please stop with these overkill builds please?

Did you really just say that a 4790K would outpreform a 5960X? Really?

Well. The reason why i want such a computer is that i want a PC that i dont need to upgrade in a long time. and since im not good at what works good for what then i google GPU/CPU Benchmark and picks whats "best".

But would appreciate if you tried to put some parts together for a PC that i didnt need to upgrade in the nearest future.

I ask about CS:GO since its my main game. I play games like battlefield and such also. But i just want a good PC for CS GO and new games comeing in 2015 like GTA V and The Division.

I didnt sort the parts by price. As i write over here i dont know anything about whats good and such. so i go to CPU benchmark and such to see whats the "best". im a totally noob on this area.

Since most games (said he was only gaming) are single threaded yes in fact it will since you can overclock higher

That system is actually very future proof and very upgradable

You could pay half that for a smart build (that still works just as well for today's games) and put the other half of the money in to a savings account or something and buy a way better PC a couple of years later with the money you saved. Its a bit silly to build a "future proof" rig because you never really know what the future holds and if future games can even take advantage of the then out-dated hardware that was supposed to be future proof.

Get the top end i5 cpu for your socket. Its all games will need.

Id personally avoid DDR4 ...its not gonna be relevant for games for a while 16GB of 1333hz is more then enough and dont get dominator its overpriced for no real reason.

your video card is going to be what matters the most so if you can justify a 980 go for it

The samsung 840 evo SSDs are MORE then enough speed for a system I say this using one right now and windows boots iin I think 10-15 seconds (been a while since I timed it)

A singlke WD black will be plenty fast enough for a HDD games already load so fast on it that I struggle to read loading time hints

something along the lines of an ax600ish will be plenty of power for this machine

your cooler is fine (and the only thing that isnt overkill on this system xD)

I left out mobo cause I dunno if you are absolutly deadset on ddr4 and I wasnt in the mood to do the research into ddr3 boards if you were.

Thank you. thats actully one of my concerns too. I dont know how to see how big a PSU i need for lets say a GTX 980 I5/I7 Something something.

I mean how do you guys read it? do you take each part and read how much is uses or?.

Another question (Might be a noob question). But. Are I5 better than I7 for games like Counterstrike that requires more from a single core than alot of cores?

and on the sidenote then im streaming my CS GO games also. so will a I5 be enough?

My system as it is now is a

GTX 680

I7 3770k

Asus maximus v gene

8gb 1600mhz ram

and so on.

Is it actully worth buying a new pc atm or should i just wait some more time?

Guess you know the feeling when you have the money but its not that necessary maybe to upgrade but still want to do it? :P

If you are not noticing your system pissing you off in any meaningful manner I wouldn't bother im running a slightly better comp but I can tell you that iom perfectly content with how mine is performing.

i7s have whats known as hyperthreading where it basicly makes "fake cores" on your cpu they are virtual core so some programs can see a 4 core as an 8core. But near no games use it ARMA3 does...I ran benchmarks and seen literally a 1fps gain with hyperthreading on.

As for steaming I dunno to be honest I dont do it others could answer that question for you but I imagine it would be fine.

Personally from what I see an upgrade isnt needed at all though tbh

The gpu has the H.264 encoder for that

power supply choice is totally over kill. in fact using a psu that's well above what's required can cause it to be even less efficient and make running costs far more.

650w would be ample

Gaming PC: • AMD Ryzen 7 3900x • 16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200mhz • Founders Edition 2080ti • 2x Crucial 1tb nvme ssd • NZXT H1• Logitech G915TKL • Logitech G Pro • Asus ROG XG32VQ • SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless

Laptop: MacBook Pro M1 512gb

I7 is basicly an i5 with hyperthreading

And 4 stronger cores > 6 cores for gaming

Get a Haswell cpu and a Z97 mobo that supports Broadwell cpus

Also only * 5th gen i7s have 6 cores

A 4790k has 4

And for streaming just use Nvidia shadowplay

Your H.264 will take care of it

For 980 sli i belive 850w is enough otherwise about 600W
