Lets face it :D I will try to keep Apple's look ( Mesh design ) but that is all i want to keep from Apple :D ( Okay, and OS X too :3 :3 )

I intend to paint whole case in dark grey, and treat paint until i get mirror finish, but that will be done at the end.

I had to test eLoops on that CoolStream, this combo is absolute sickness ( good airflow and no noise at all :D epic, but we'll see how this will perform under 10h+ gaming load + 1.3V on GPU   :) )

Small update:

Case is dismantled and got shower room treatment for stain and oil removal. I used this opportunity to see how components will look inside of it, and also to try their placement on planned spots.

Remember that case from the beginning, when i took ddc apart to clean it of, well, after closer look i saw that mbo tray is removable, so my current case won't be sacrificed as much as it needed to be :D

Also original holes and mount will be used to fix in place some of components like psu and radiator

I'll put diy mounting system in here, so i won't have problems later to dismantle something if needed.

Nice. How are you going to cover the gap where the dvd drive should be positioned?

It's not a bug, it's an undocumented feature!

I'll use original slide cover, it is made out of aluminium too. Some JB Weld or Epoxy weld to fix that in place. After glue sets in i'll be able to sand it and level it down to smooth surface.

And then i'll use 3mm drill bits to drill holes in it :)

Okay, I'll throw in a small pool for LTT Community.

I want to know what do you guys think ( I will include community's decision in my final project )

So I'am still thinking about HDD bay mount and there are two options:

a ) Use of original Powermac's HDD bay

LINK

b ) Use of Chieftec's HDD bay

LINK

Tell me what You guys think about this, and we can figure out something together :) I'll really appreciate community's opinion.

  • 2 weeks later...

Minor update:

Dremel delivery is delayed, but i should receive it by the end of this week.

Also Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1 + 4690K are getting prepared for shipping to me :)

Deadline date is still the same: 1.4. - 10.4. ( I hope that the paint job won't take too much time out of this project. )

Here we go, some minor updates.

Today i had in plan only to mount some heatsinks on VGA card.

1WR1rBgl.jpg

But DHL courier surprised me with Dremel tool, so i had to test it out :)

First thing to do was: cutting out excess material from optics cover, so i can fit it in and connect to the rest of the case with epoxy.

sHrz2wyl.jpg

It isn't perfect cut, but enough for epoxy treatment. Piece is finished and ready for stage 2.

3uXPJokl.jpgFJsRTv2l.jpgovRyWm8l.jpg

MBO tray shared very same destiny as optics cover. I had to cut out excess material for fitting it inside the case.

vj2YRRtl.jpgTVD3qaEl.jpggFk0yF0l.jpg

After all, i've decided to use Chieftec's side panel, and put it to good use in this mod.

phjmrxAl.jpgLJrXCFOl.jpg

dfWH8Awl.jpgOo8LQZSl.jpgnRno7q2l.jpg

Radiator mount is finished, i need to cut out middle part and some holes to hold everything in place.

Next to do: Cutting out back side for new IO panel.

Stay tuned ! :)

So.. :) I've decided to do some minor work today to put this tool to good use.

Radiator panel holders have been cutted out from old psu case:

Few pictures of planned fixation to the panel:

I also cutted out honeycomb mesh to use it in this project, i still don't know where this will be placed, and how; but i'am considering placing it somewhere near the pump, or to use it at top radiator panel mounting points.

Huh, i like how you used the right angles from the power supply...i might have to steal that idea...

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

IMO they are great :) Their design fits into my mod plans as well.

Let's not forget, after all i have to thank them again, fittings set for this mod was sponsored by Monsoon Cooling ( http://monsooncooling.com/) in full.

I will appreciate this idea steal :)

So here we go:

Another day, another worklog update :) I was cutting out IO bracket from Chieftec ( pain in the ass #1 ) and a backplate hole for IO bracket on Powermac's case ( pain in the ass #2 )

Let the pictures talk for themselves:

I've just got some presents from Conrad.de  :)

Jmqd9wdl.jpg

Epoxy glue doesn't really have 10 minutes of hardening time, i can say that it is more like 60 minutes ( But hey, this is good, right? :) There is more time frame for possible error corrections and alignment of parts )

Update :)

Yesterday I've filled holes from the original mbo holders and various mounts, also i fitted front plate into opti bay.

I left this overnight, so epoxy can harden properly.

Few pictures from today:

Excess epoxy was trimmed off with sanding Dremel bit ( at lowest speed )

Also i started to drill holes on optibay plate, work is currently in progress :)

Heart of this build, without this PSU, whole system design and noise suppression would be useless :)
