What do you think Nvidia's response to AMD 300 series will be?

We know the new titan is coming, but that is in a different class, and it's been a few months since the 980 and 970 have released. So what do you think Nvidia is sitting on ?

Adequate for just beating them and then the cycle will start again.

GTX 970 actual 4GB

muh specs 

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

None of the above, it'll be GM 200 on a new Titan that'll probably not even be fully unlocked so they can release a Titan II black edition the next year.

Nvidia is sitting on new shit that'll properly drive 4k. They won't release it until AMD puts something out to properly drive 4k, from how I see it.

A 980ti 7GB would be awesome! 

I would assume a 990 would be a dual gpu card based on the 590 and 690

Nvidia is sitting on new shit that'll properly drive 4k. They won't release it until AMD puts something out to properly drive 4k, from how I see it.

 

AMD released the R9 295X2 some time ago... dual GPU maybe, but it's a card that is capable.

I guess I meant something in the context of a single GPU config without the requirement for a liquid cooling solution.

 

I'm hoping AMD has that stacked VRAM thing sorted out and releases cards based on that next.

I would disagree and discount it as fanboyism in any other time to say that they are holding the best back by far, but I agree that NVIDIA is sitting on more powerful chips at this time. The fact that they made sucha power efficient desktop GPUs even for the top tier cards, and the fact their laptop counterparts are so close in performance means they likely had a lot more room to go for the desktop. I personally think they didn't bring their laptop up near the desktop as much I think they brought desktop GPUs down in performance to their MXM laptop counterparts.

That said, I have no real evidence to back this up, and  someone following GPU tech more closely than I am could probably shoot me down.

Makes sense based on simple information we have.

 

It could also just be how the Maxwell architecture works - since it's so efficient.

GM200 will be Nvidia's response and from the looks of it a full fat GM200 core likely won't be beating the R9 380X. Pirate Islands is speculating to be one hell of a push from AMD. AMD might have pulled one over on Nvidia big time to saturate the market with leading performance GPUs for the next year. AMD's GPU segment losses will explain such a push as AMD really needs a long stretch of performance leadership to help get their revenues back on track.

They will be releasing their 'big maxwel' GM200, similar to the GTX 680 > 780. However its not looking like it will be capable to beat the R9 380 / 390 due to their immense 4096 shader count and new stacked Vram technology. Nvidia wont have stacked vram until Pascal.

nvidia will launch the all mighty gm210 gpu that will totaly anihilate everything on the market...it will probably be a ''titan'' branded card with a lot of vram that will completely blow the gm204 from the gtx980 out of the water...it will cost a fortune though.
