AMD or Intel. Who did you choose?

What are you running in your rig? AMD or Intel?

Who do you prefer and why?

I'm personally running an AMD FX-8320 that I got on sale for about $100 2 years ago, maybe 3?

I got it for the price and I didn't know very much back then. Now I like prefer just because of the efficiency

and performance. The price is obviously higher but at least I will have more room to upgrade in the future where

on the AMD side currently the best you can get is a 9590 which isn't even that good.

No I'm not asking "Who is better? or Who should I choose?" I'm simply asking "Who did you choose and why?"

Don't even bother posting if you're going to trash someone or try to tell me "ooo this type of thread will cause a flame  war".

I am curious. Maybe your post should be forbidden.

I'm sure you are, but there's an overabundance of this very thread if you search for them.

EDIT: 1 does.

Can't be assed to check, but that doesn't warrant yet another thread.

A couple do.

Don't ask this. It only starts shit and is incredibly situational.

Do you run this forum? No I didn't think so.

I think the only one here creating a fuss is you so leave if you don't like it.

The mods will remove it if they want too.

Oh be quiet. You are literally only trying to start crap. You are brand new here so you haven't seen the shit that these threads cause.

They don't all.

Frankly the reason why they are bad is because they have very little meaning.

I have intel.

Why: I like the power efficiency but ill buy whatever is best in my budget at the time, i don't favor one or the other i'm always hoping AMD comes back strong.

Little meaning as in who should I choose, I'm not trying to answer one whole "who is better" on this thread.

I'm asking Why you choose what you did and who did you choose.

first PC was an intel Pentium 2

second PC was an intel Pentium 1(had both concurrently)

third was an AMD athlon X2, back when AMD was temporarily performance king

after that it's been all intel. currently the house has a sandy bridge Quad mobile, ivy bridge quad, and 3 haswell dual cores

True. I've just personally noticed brand wars with titles such as this thread's.

It depends on the budget. If you have a bunch of money to blow, grab Intel. If you don't, grab for AMD. My rule of thumb is that if you can't afford a decent i5 or i7, an AMD chip will probably be your best bet. Extreme editions are overkill, as at xeons. Also, AMD has awesome APUs, so if that's what you're looking for, then AMD takes the cake.

I chose 3570k over 8350 because the 3570k was cheaper (Microcenter) and FX's single core performance is garbage.

I don't discriminate. I've run almost everything since I started playing with hardware when I was a kid (Early 90's). From original Pentiums to K6-II's to Thunderbirds and P4's. I've cooked more than my fair share too. They all have different strengths; weaknesses; quirks and failures.

Although I have to give it to Intel they have been decimating AMD the last couple years.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.
