Intel or AMD CPU?

So im building a gaming PC, I've been reviewing alot, but most people say Intel. I'm looking between an Intel Core i5-4460 and a AMD FX 6350 or 8320.

Im know the AMD uses more power, but I'm here about performance of both. AMD has more Ghz, but I've heard intel is better. I'm building a gaming rig and want the best bang for buck. What would you reccomend? Also some motherboard recommendations would be handy, thanks.

It would be handy to know the budget. The general recommendation is the i5 4670K.

8320 is the best out the three, intel CPUs are "better" because they offer stronger cores, that's why they consume less, and come clocked lower than AMD's out of the Box .

AMD does use more power... but, it only amounts to maybe a few cents per week of added cost if you are an average user.  FX chip with an ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0 mobo is a very good start for gaming.

My rig =SCOUT2=

Yeah need to give a budget. If you have no budget then go intel simple enough.

General rule: If you can't get an i7 get an AMD equivalent. With few exceptions like Pentium k vs 4xxx series, (pentium k wins) or if your relying on intergrated graphics AMD beats even i7 then cause they're graphics are so much more powerful. Also if anyone ANYONE tells you power consumption as a pro for intel don't listen it's minimal and highly neglible

AMD has more Ghz, but I've heard intel is better

Ignore Ghz, they only matter if they are on cpus from the same company that have the same number of cores, cache and transistor count. Don't accept "this is better" arguments without a basis. The 8320 is better in terms of price to performance than that i5, so is the 6300 (not 6350), but it's slower. As for the motherboard, this is a good one.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Intel hands down, but why dont you buy what you want, as a i5 4570 all cores 3.6ghz daily i can say it runs super smooth and nothing bottlenecks it.

The rule of the thumb should be from now on to learn to overclock, gather more money and get i5 4670/4690k dont bother with anything else, not because lower cpus are not good its because they will last you soo much longer a i5 at 4.5ghz is superior to anything amd has ever offered.

The problem is not the fx 8320 using more power trust me,its the low max temp ive noticed since i had phenom ii x4, only 60 Celsius in a hot summer you easily max it out and causes instability,on the other hand intel has 90-100 C max temp lol mine never runs over 50C while gaming i can only imagine if i had money for an overclock version K id be running 4ghz + easy.

Sorry guys, the over all budget would be around $1100 or £700 - tops, for the whole build. Thanks for any help, this is for a gaming setup, and i do plan to play the more demanding games at higher quality

I would say the i5 4440/4460 is better, since it is more powerful 90% of the time.

I'd say go fx 8320, aside from being higher performance (in my opinion) am3+ is also a cheaper platform and the 8320 is unlocked.

Yeah.. The 8320 outperforms your 3570K

You're still nothing with its overclocking option, IPC is still around 70-80% behind a stock i5

Pretty sure the graphics in the 8350's are worse than the intel 4600 graphics that you can find on i7's-.

And if you are thinking of APU's, that's a 760k as the processor.......

No this 4460 is a better value with much better performance

yeah, I know, so it is pretty obvious the i7 has got a better iGPU where the 8350 does not even have one.
