R9 290 vs HD 7990

Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,

I'd just buy a second 290 if/when you need more performance.

Hi guys! I recently built a gaming rig using an R9 290 but I`ve been offered a HD 7990 for an amazing price so I was wondering if it would be worth upgrading(?) to the 7990.

I currently run a MSI R9 290 Gaming Edition that is watercooled via a NZXT Kraken G10 and a Corsair H50. I got the whole set up (GPU+kraken+H50) for $240 which was an amazing deal but someone offered me a HD 7990 for $350. Is it worth switching cards? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks :)

HD 7990 = HD 7970 in Cfx

hd 7970 = R9 280X

R9 280X < R9 290

Just get another 290 :)

Lets all ripperoni in pepperoni

thanks for the help guys! Much appreciated!

Although, what if all my PC-E slots are already full? so I can't really do crossfire? would the 7990 be viable then? (I have a soundcard and a USB 3.0 card hooked up)
