It may make sense for a CPU bound workstation (like a render app that can't use opencl/cuda) and then having a 620 for multiple displays.

but i have not see a situation where a cpu is being bottleneck by a gpu, other than not reaching to its full potential with a better gpu.

and whatever gpu this guy is using with that pentium-k, you wanna talk bottlenecking? I thought all games are single threaded? isnt that where the whole 50% better ipc matters? if the gpu isnt being held back it'd not being held back, anything more powerful on the cpu from there just becomes overhead, when a 4670k is at 66% i bet I'll be at no more than 50%, (not that you can buy a 4670k for what I paid.)

It managed by some miracle to get higher minimum FPS in Crysis 3 than a Pentium G3528, so it was all good. (The stuttering though, man that was a pain in the ass to play around).

that stuttering is probably the minimums, atleast you got the e8500 and not the q8200, that would of been a huge mistake its way slower in games apparently.

AMD FX / FM2 CPU with anything better than R9 270X or GTX760.

 

FX 6300 / FX 8300 can handle up to a 280 (nonX) from the testing my friend did.

It was $15, and since it came with a normal use guarantee (it came from an ex business dexktop-some sort of cheap HP) and was a massive improvement over a P4 630, I was happy (it overclocks like a champ to, so plenty of fun)

Yeah... high framerate, lighting and physics are what put the strain on the CPU. Just saying that res is a factor :)

Fps isn't everything.

Depends on the settings :-)

 

If I played on low (like I did before upgrading) almost constantly above 100 fps.

Also OBS ate up about 10 fps in my test above since no Shadowplay on 500 series cards :<
