download is low, i guess?

hi.

 

so i went form dsl 16k to 50k, but my steam download went only from 1.8mb/s to 2.8mb/s, is this normal? If this is normal I am not impressed :D I set my throttle to 10mb/s in steam, too. Do I need 3rd party router?

They way ISP's sell internet is by Mega-BIT not Mega-BYTE which is what steam is showing. 1MegaBYTE is roughly equal to 8~10MegaBIT so you are getting full speed. If you want full speed downloads in steam, remove any throttling.

1 MBps (Mega Byte per sec, the unit on steam download page) = 8 Mbps (Mega bit per sec, the unit on the throttle page and on speedtest.net)
