Rate my cabling

Greetings LTT.

 

I  was just browsing a thread about cable management, and i saw some pretty epic cabling work, as well as some awful work

I'm just curious what you people think of my personal rig:

 

It's the third case i've put my rig into, so i thought i'd try to do as best a job i could

 

Heres with the system running and the blue LEDs on.. just cuz

 

and the back of the mobo tray, as requested:

the cabling is fine but It would look better with matching color sata cables and dedicated 6 pin or 8 pin  but Ill give it a 7 out of 10

The best you could do, 6/10, if you want better CM you need to get those cases with seperate PSU chamber and sleeved cable. Dont worry though, my CM is probably a 3

6.7. Mine is bad... But there are reasons for that. Thankfully, I have my new case waiting, which should make it look quite a bit better.

6/10 you did what you could, the colors are not matching blue/red sata and show us the back

7/10... those PCI power connections need some work imo...

Edit: You do not want to see how mine looks like right now... Let's just say that it's a tangle of rainbow colored wires...

Maybe clean up the front panel , usb headers, ect

Cable management alone: About 7/10

 

The position of the connectors and grommets is what lets it down because it means you have a good chunk of cable exposed. Not much you can do about that really.

 

Overall cabling: 5/10

 

I feel that the cabling is let down by a few odd bits such as the coloured SATA cables and the cables for the fans as well as what was mentioned before.

its not a modular power supply so without getting my drills out etc and lloads of extension cables i can't make it neat.

nothing like a birds next of cables (its not as bad as it looks at first)

honestly i cut loads of tywraps off to get cooler in

5/10, but not all of that comes from you yourself though, some of it just comes from what the case has to offer and I see that the case does not have very much to work with. One thing that sticks out like a sore thumb though thats very simple to fix, is your fan cables running down by the HDD cages. I would zip tie the bottom of the cables hanging down below the HDD cages to the last SATA power cable., so it wont be seen any more.

i have a huge container of many different sizes of zip-ties, but i left them at my house (i'm at college). i could see if my parents could drop it off, but untill i have the proper tools i cant really do much.

 

another thought i had would be to rout the USB and front panel connectors under the mobo and out thru the CPU cutout

Thats what I always do, I was seeing if there was a slot cutout right behind the bottom of the motherboard try but all the cables there I could not see if there was one or not.

drill, 6mm hss bit, jigsaw, file and edging strip and its a lot easier to organise cables

To be fair, you took the effort to do it so in my mind you are already way better than most people out there. I would say a solid 7/10...good job!
