So if I just left the RAM alone and overclocked the CPU, the RAM will run at a slightly lower speed? (not a very noticeable one right?) 

 

Also I remeber you said it before, but what software do you use to overclock the CPU and GPU, and how much does it cost to download (or do u even download it)?

Hey peopless. I was wondering how this build looks and if there is anything I should add/change. This is my first build and I will mostly be using it for 4k gaming. Please tell me what you think  down below.

I'll fix it a bit but I will get back to you!

EDIT: I took out the Razer peripherals because they're just not good quality. I also changed the SSD out and the PSU. I won't take out the sound card but if you don't edit music or do a lot of video editing then you don't need one - just to let you know. Also, because I took out the keyboard I suggest you check out the thread in my sig and getting back to me after reading through it and taking the quiz within it so you can have a super comfy keyboard to type on!

Good, but I would get a H440 and an EVGA PSU instead

 

EDIT: Oh and an ATX mobo would be better

I'd replace the 4790K with a 4690K unless you plan to use the extra threads.

Doubt it. High resolutions and high quality settings are usually GPU dependent. CPU has no say in that. That being said, the 4790K would afford the OP a little bit of extra performance in BF4, but it's not worth the ~$100 over the 4690K.

The motherboard is mATX it will look a little lost in the large ATX case. You might also want to consider a motherboard that already has WiFi.

 

EVGA 220-G2-0750-XR is a much better and less expensive psu.

 

I would also change the ssd.

 

Unless you have a special need there is no reason to get an add-on sound card. Z97 motherboards tend to have very good sound sub-systems.

Thanks so much guys/girls (lol idk). All this really helps. So a few questions. First, STRMfrmXMN, why is the razer keyboard and mouse bad quality? Im new to all of this and I was just wondering. Also so if I take out the sound card, it wont make a difference in the sound qualities in games such as Battlefield or other AAA games? And I will change the psu to an evga one.

Razer peripherals are notoriously bad quality and have only gotten worse over time. The mice like to simply do their thing (die early) and the keyboards use Kailh switches - they use to use the much, much better variety of Cherry MX switches but cheapened out for no reason besides production costs. They have lots of wobble and often fail. A Cherry switch that does this is one in a million. You can find better mechanical keyboards for the same price or less. The mouse can be something similar from a trustable brand like Logitech or Zowie.

 

And for the sound card, you don't need one if you're gaming. Motherboard output will be fine. Sound cards are for people with crazy high-end headphones who produce music or maybe edit movies - not for the gamer. I've used one once and it was for troubleshooting motherboard output sound (solved by switching the socket in which the PC was plugged in).

Yep but remember to swap for an i5 (save yourself the cash), get the SSD I recommended on not the asynchronous NAND Kingston one and  do what all the others said for the PSU and motherboard :)

Also, total side note BUT

You live in California, and although I'm your neighbor up north, I have visited CA and can tell you one thing. It's HOT there :P

If you overclock the components, and you should, then keep in mind that it's cooler now than it will be in, say, June and you may have to turn your overclocked settings down to keep the PC temps safe during the summer there :) Just a thought as lots of people don't get this across to newbies.

this to get people's attention. You're lucky I followed this thread because otherwise you wouldn't have gotten quite a lot of advice ;)

 

So for the motherboard, well, they aren't my thing but I'll mention the people that helped you above so they can see you need help @Godlygamer23 @brob

 

For RGB keyboards you're just plain out of luck. The only decent offerings are the Logitech G910 Orion Spark (and I hate it's keyswitches with a passion and it's keycaps are also awful, but hey, it works and is made alright) and the Corsair K65/K70/K95 which are either recalled or out of stock. I suggest waiting or maybe buying a keyboard that matches the other colors in your build :)

This build looks killer in a stealth grey format with a great, easy to work in case and has everything you need minus peripherals (you should PM me for more help with those). Just would like to point out that buying used optical drives is something you should look into as well as maybe a used keyboard and also a Windows key from Reddit because you can get them much cheaper there :)

More of the same, but I had fun building it.  Cooling is a bit weird. Intake at top (140mm) and rear (120mm).  Exhaust is out the front through the radiator.  I actually do not like this case's cooling options, I just like the Blue and White theme.

 

At under 5% the total cost, going for an i7 does make sense.

 

Do you really need a storage drive?  If not, a 500GB SSD would be nice.

Second, you won't be finding the K70 RGB anywhere for all sorts of reasons (supply/demand, recalls, etc) and any Razer peripheral made recently is crap unfortunately. Stay well away from their keyboards and mice.

 

I suggest finding a keyboard that suits your color scheme. Also, check out the link in my sig to learn about keyswitches and find which sort of Cherry MX switch suits you the best :)

Which switch do you prefer? Cherry mx red, brown, or blue and why?

I prefer greens because I like the click and have very heavy hands. They also have a tactile bump which I love for typing.

If you like light, well browns, blues or reds are for you. 

If you like tactile, browns, clears, blues or greens are for you.

If you like heavy, clears, black or greens are for you.

If you don't like the tactile bump then reds or blacks are for you.
