Oh EA Support...

emachado99

EA Support is absolutely horrible. No questions asked.

Before I show you, the live chat I just finished with I'll tell you a little bit of why I contacted them in the first place.

On my Battlelog I had 3 soldiers associated with it, and only wanted 2 of them. I could not find a 'delete solider' button or anything related to that anywhere.. So I read online and people were saying you actually had to contact EA to remove a soldier you didn't want. I thought this was quite ridiculous, but anyways I proceeded in contacting them. On Jan 10th, 2015 I had went to live chat, and I had to wait 20 minutes before I was connected with an advisor. I had finally got in contact, and asked the representative, but he said it couldn't be done at the time because they have a specialist team (yes they actually have a specific team there, to remove soldiers from your account), and the team wasn't around. I asked when I could get in contact and he said between the times of 3 AM-11 AM EST. Well those times are convenient aren't they? -_-

So finally I go back today, and this was my chat. Go ahead and read if you want.

You are now ready to chat with Alex.
AlexThanks for contacting EA Customer Experience, my name is Alex. How may I assist you today?
youhi
AlexHello
youSorry, if you were waiting long I was grabbing food :)
youI had a case opened a while ago, #
AlexOkay
AlexMay I have your name please?
youEvan
AlexThank you Evan
AlexMay I put your chat on hold while I am checking.
youSure. How long do you think I'll be on hold for?
AlexI will take couple of min.
youOk.
AlexThank you
AlexIn the mean time
AlexFor the account security purpose I will have to do the account ownership verification. Please let me know the answer to this security question :- What is the name of your favorite pet?
you
AlexThank you
AlexThanks for being on hold
youNo problem
AlexAs I checked and also acknowledged that last time you had contacted us with this case id:- for the persona transfer but it was not done due to non availability of our specialist team who take cares of this type of request.
AlexSo would you like to go ahead with this request ?
youYes please
AlexOkay
youI was asking the advisor to remove the soldier "scrachobros" off my account
AlexKindly provide me your persona id which you would like to transfer and also another account's details which you want to link with persona id.
youI don't want to transfer anything... I just want to have the solider on my account with the name of "scrachobros" removed. Not transferred anywhere please.
AlexOkay
AlexFirst of all I really apologize for this inconvenience. Now I acknowledged properly.
youIts alright :)
AlexYour solider "scrachobros" has been removed so you would like to re add?
youNo thanks
AlexSo you would like to remove.
AlexKindly wait
youYes please
youOk
Alexwhen we will do the persona transfer then soilder will be removed from the account
youOk, thats what I wanted thanks :)
AlexSo would you like to proceed for persona deletion since when we will do the persona deletion then soilder will be removed
youYes please, I would like the solider "scrachobros" removed
AlexOkay
AlexI will give you a disclaimer for persona transfer so kindly agree with this disclaimer so I can proceed with your acceptance.
AlexI would be happy to help you with your Persona Deletion request, however, there are technical risks associated with such requests. You will lose your game status and progress, any Ultimate Teams on your accounts, any Battlefield Soldiers, items purchased and/or earned in your games as well as content that you have associated with one or both accounts. Once I perform the Persona Deletion, it is irreversible. The system will, unfortunately, not record content lost during the Persona Deletion process, preventing us from being able to recover this and refunds are not available. This applies to any games connected to your Origin account, Console, PC as well as mobile.
youThat is fine, you can go ahead and remove it, as long as your removing the "scrachobros" soldier
AlexCould you please give me a moment of your time while I am doing this for you?
youYes
AlexThank you
AlexStill working
youOk
AlexFor this inconvenience and as a token of gratitude like to issue you 15% discount code for the future purchase of games from Origin Store. You would be getting the code in the mailbox of this address #
youOh thank you very much :)
AlexQ
AlexEvan you can use the above 15% discount code in the origin store for the further purchasing and still working so please bear with me.
youOk thanks
AlexThanks for being on hold
AlexCan you confirm me that before this chat recently have you done any persona transfer by another chat advisor?
youNo
youThe last chat I had before this one, I was asking to have "scrachobros" removed, but he said it couldn't be done until a specialist was around
AlexOkay
AlexSorry for this inconvenience.
youits alright
AlexAs I have talked with my specialist team and they said persona deletion is not possible because it might be possible that if persona deletion will be done so you can face some issue related your account.
AlexSo instead of this you can do the email swapping or account merging using two accounts.
youAre you serious?
AlexYes as per our specialist team
youGlad to see I wasted 45 minutes in here just to be told that
youWhen I could have been doing other things, that I needed to get done today
AlexI really apologize for this
youI dont understand why, it would be such an issue. But than again EA has to make everything an issue.
AlexYes I can understand.
youtSomething as simple, as asking to have a soldier removed from my account, takes 2 trips to live chat, wait 20 minutes for the first one, spend almost an hour in the second one, because I need something deleted...
AlexSo would like to go ahead for email swapping or account merging.
Alex?
youNo
youI dont have any other origin accounts to merge. All I wanted was to remove a damn solider... If that wasnt clear the first 67 times I said that.
AlexThank you for contacting EA and chatting with me. I appreciate your time. Have a nice day.
Alex

Sorry we are not able to proceed.

TL;DR- EA sucks ass

How the hell did you get to chat with them? I had an account related issue and all I could do was set up a bloody callback and wait for them to call me.

I've never had issues with EA support generally they tend to be the part I enjoy dealing with the most.

I used social engineering to get them to add DLC I had bought on Xbox to my PC account so I wouldn't have to pay twice hehe.

Ever since then its been a pleasure because I know how to get what I want from them.

Top kek.

I already knew their development teams were shit because NHL 15 was a terrible game with lacking content that didn't justify the $60 price tag, all while they had more time to develop it than any other sports game or NHL game ever.

Glad I've never had to deal with their customer service (if that's what you call it, even).

Did anyone actually read the entire chat conversation?

OP, your final statements sounded very asshole-ish and I don't blame the rep for proceeding to close the chat with you.

Also, you asked them if it was possible to get a soldier removed from your account (which does not hinder anything about your game to my knowledge, so I don't know why you're making a fuss out of this to begin with) to which the rep went and asked what looked like multiple people based on them going away from the chat those few times.

EA isn't in the wrong here. You were helped, stop being a dick to customer service reps.

I wasn't being a dick at all. If you actually read the whole chat, you would see that I was very patient and kind with him. I started getting a bit irratated near the end because this was the second chat conversation I've had with EA about this. Second, I was in the live chat for almost 1 hour, for him just to tell me it couldn't be done. Third, the chat I had before this guy, I was waiting for 20-25 minutes just to be connected and, he said he couldn't do it without the specialist team, and finally.. I don't understand why someone needs to spend the amount of time I had to, ask for a simple removal of a soldier when EA could simply implement a button or something. I'm sure if you were in my shoes in this situation, you would understand.

Right. I understand that, but you have to realize the amount of people that they have to help everyday. I just don't see how getting a solider profile removed from your account is such a big deal to warrant all of this.

I'm not really trying to show how, a soldier on my account is such a big deal, but more so how poorly they were taking care of this. The amount of time I had to wait, and how long I was waiting for the first chat, and than how long I was in the second chat. And in the second chat, it didn't seem professional to me. It seemed to me as if he was using Google translate, to communicate.

I understand, he probably has to deal with a lot of people on a daily basis, but I mean c'mon. This is a little too much. And the first representative told me it was possible, people online said they had it done, but when I chat with this guy, it's not possible...?

I've done that... After 48 hours of gaming, it hurts...

Anyway, that's terrible... If you ever get a modmic, pray it works properly, their customer support is automated and replies with the same thing every time.

I think the person you were speaking with was doing his best to try to resolve your issue. You've gotta look at it from his perspective: he understands your issue, so him being the middle man in this type of scenario he calls up the team who would likely be able to do that. If they don't cooperate, that's not good for either of you. The rep did what he could for you from what I can tell, and you getting upset with him left him with the only choice of closing the chat.

Now, it could be his fault, but it could also be the people who he was trying to get on the issue - they may not be doing their job properly, which is the issue with these types of things. Since there's a chain there, if someone in the chain doesn't do their job, that leaves the rep there not being able to help you.

42 emails to EA's support about my account being banned because of a hacker and yet to receive anything back. I guess EA don't want my money anymore.

@emachado99

So far EA has been best customer support I've dealt with. 20mins wait is really fast compared to Blizzard (45mins) and Steam/Valve (7 work days). Its obvious that rep you are talking with isn't native english speaker or comes from country where english is business language (like India). It would actually make sense to have different technical team for doing account/soldier removals because of support being concentrated to lower payment countries. But I don't understand why this kind of request can't be done with request form instead of live chat. The reason why rep is repeating things (like to be sure) is that their supervisors have probably scared them to death about any lawsuits being off their pay. So making sure that whatever he does is really what you want.

Still, this is just one bad experience. And you might have wanted to be more clear about what you meant. AFAIK you need to buy license for every soldier in Battlelog. So removing soldier would mean removing game license also.

Yeah I understand. The soldier I wanted removed isn't even mine. Somehow my step-brothers PSN connected with my account and created a soldier when I brought BF3 over on his PS3. He doesn't even own any of the Battlefield games for PS3, so it wouldn't matter if it was removed from my account. And since then, it has created 3 of the same soldiers for each game (BF4 PS3, BF3 PS3, BF3 PC).

I don't know, it's a weird situation with this thing, and I thought it was just a simple task to remove a soldier, but I guess not. Oh well :/

But I do understand what you were saying above.
