The Water Cooling Gallery

Switched the fans to all intake and just found out i was monitoring cpu package temp instead of cpu core hence the higher readings. 😂

Rebuilt my janky out-door radiator loop with D5s instead of DDC. Lost some flow but gained silence.

I did flip the bottom fans to be intakes in pull a day or two after taking this picture. And you better believe any RGB was turned off.

The Barrowch flow meter seems to be doing great reading coolant temps, but flow readings leave much to be desired and at some point this will be replaced by a proper Aquacomputer unit. I have an Octo mounted to the back as my fan controller and would be nice to get a proper flow reading that can feed data into Aquasuite.

As Linus has just credited Cathar for inventing the modern waterblock in his review of the laughable Fluix block, for the nerds amongst us this is what was so revolutionary about the LittleRiver White Water.

Note the "micro-channels", the central jet plate to induce turbulence, the central inlet with two side outlets. This one only serves as a paperweight these days but I can't bring myself to throw it away.

Its pretty cool to see the evolution of the water cooled computer. From the earlier days of GTX Series 6 Cards to now with the 30 Series. Still beautiful nonetheless these machines. My rig is still under construction I hope you all like it when its done.

There is a Lian Li gen 4 cable from vertical mount to the motherboard. Probanbly would not have made too much difference with a gen 3 but 'shrug' I have the thermal grizzly contact plate on the CPU with a thick EK mount plate on the back.

This computer was previously a Digital Storm Velox. The case mounts the CPU upside-down. Waiting for AMD 7950 XTX to watercool the GPU. The radiator has multiple ports on its end tanks so no modification to the hard lines required when I upgrade. This was my first time with hard tubing.

*This project is never finished. I have a few more things that I want to do to it. I see a Backplate, a Mid Cover Plate, and a Plate for the 5.25" Bay in her Future just to name a few. I ordered new PSU Extension cables that will fit the bill a little better than the Red and Grey ones do. I hope you enjoy the progress! Thank you for looking!

Look, it had a baby!

Just finished a Tower 100 and a 500 build. Shame I don't have space for the 900.

Barrow 3-in-1 helped keep the Tower 100 clean.

Sorry, not a fan or RGB.

It’s a shame when you scroll back just a few pages and see almost every rig having multiple cards.  Gone with the times it seems.

Grabbed some old parts, some new and remade my spare rig again. Currently my school computer and possibly work from home setup.

Just finished a Hyte Y60 build. Pretty chuffed with how it looks.

Internals are pretty old with a 9900k, Z390 Meg, 32GB Ram and a 3080ti but I’ve managed to squeeze in a fair whack of cooling potential so this will definitely be home to whatever I go for next.

EK Quantum Surface S360 at the top with 3 x Artic P12s

EK Quantum Surface X240M at the side with 4 x Artic P12s (Push / Pull)

EK CoolStream SE 120 at the rear with 2 x Artic P12s (Push / Pull)

14mm Hardine and EK Torque Fittings + Corsair Hydro X XD5 Pump Res Combo

For anyone else thinking of the Hyte Y60, it’s been a joy to work with. No mods, no botch jobs and no Dremel which is always nice.

The only notes of caution will be, if you want to fit a 120 rad at the rear, you’ll need a Coolstream or similar if your mobo has a large rear IO shroud. If your mobo doesn’t or you can remove it, then a Quantum Surface might fit. You could also maybe get a thicker 120 in as well and retain a push / pull fan config but you might start to run into difficulty connecting on to your GPU then to the CPU.

The side rad could also be thicker if required but if you want a push / pull fan config, I wouldn’t recommend and you’d probably need to move the pump / res unit further the left and I think it would spoil the aesthetic.

Pump / Res unit screws nicely in from the underside as long as you have a set of longer M3 screws with some washers. You could also use a fan mount kit but I think it looks pretty cool at 45 degrees when floor mounted.

Drain valve location was the only real problem I encountered. Where it is at the moment looks good but when opened and air let into the system from the reservoir, only minimal coolant drained. After adding a block adapter to the GPU > 120 Rad section to allow me to connect a flexy hose so I can blow into it has solved.

So, I still maintain the Tower 500 has to be one of the worst designed cases I've built in, BUT, I think I might have cracked it.

13600k - MSI Z790-A - 32GB - 1TB SSD - 4090 - Dual Loop - Lian-Li Uni Fans. 3 x Quantum Surface S120s - 1 x Quantum Surface P240 - 1 x Quantum Surface S240.

The only thing left is to see if there is anything that can be done in the back of the case. I'm thinking there is space for 2 x S120 rads where the HDD cages are..... Maybe for another time though.
