Musical guilty pleasures? (Bad music/unpopular/dirty)

vt3c

Hi. Here, I want you to admit your terrible music tastes. Artists, genres, or songs that are taboo-bad or are just cringeworthy, or anything that just is frowned upon but you still listen to. I'll start.

European white-boy rap such as Yung Lean and Thaiboy Digital

Alongside some new-metal like Volumes, for some reason a lot of people I know hate metal with a passion. It's great music, just not popular in my area.

How about you? What is your musical guilty pleasure?

Eric S. Raymond used an E6600 from 2005 until 12/30/14 or open source software creation. Raw data computations in excess of 18GB each. Core 2 Duos still have tons of life left, my friend.

call me maybe is probably my worst guilty pleasure. that and I actually enjoy the stupid pump up music for the club.

most of the time I stick to alternative/punkrock/post hardcore

Not sure if this counts as a guilty pleasure, but 50% of my playlists are what you would find in videogame/movie soundtracks. Apparently, most people find it weird to listen to lyric-less music, as if anyone actually listens to songs for the lyrics. Personally, I've never been able to decipher the lyrics to any song just by listening to it (maybe my hearing sucks?) so I find equal value in music regardless of whether there is someone singing in it.

Examples of "lyricless" music that I listen to:

1. This one's not technically lyric-less as the lyrics are Russian, but they're so faint that one could believe it's a fictitious language.

2. This one's a "dubstep remix" so I guess it could still be considered "not weird" to listen to.

3. This is something you'd likely find in a movie trailer and the kind that tends to make peoples' eyebrows raise and question my sanity.

Bad eh? Sure, I can do bad.  Like "late 80s" bad ...

I have another couple of guilty pleasure songs, but most are rather politically incorrect (albeit with the intention of being comedy).  Not sure if they're suitable for this forum though.

Tove Lo. I love her voice and lyrics. The first physical CD I bought in 3 years. I listen to it waaay too much. Her lyrics are the embodiment of a friend and we bonded over it.
