Any GOOD power supply under 50 pounds? (UK)

Go to solution Solved by Bloodyvalley,

600W is overkill & that brand is perfectly fine but I'd go with SeaSonic, just because their shit never failed on me. EVGA is fine though.

Hello I'm building a budget oriented gaming PC and I need help with the power supply. I think 600w is enough and even a little bit of overkill for the parts I'm using but let it be, if you have some strong suggestions about getting a better one let me know. I've decided upon the EVGA 600B bronze power supply and I think it is a fair choice.

I will be overclocking both CPU and GPU. Is 600w overkill? Should I get a better brand? Thoughts?

Why Z97 and a Pentium? You could get an i3 and an H97 board for the same price as a G3258 and that Z97 board, and get way better performance in new games.

Most PSUs weigh under 10 pounds. :D

But seriously, anything Seasonic or bequiet! is good. And you need perhaps 400W max.

Because that CPU is only temporary, let's say 2 months MAX. I just want to try it myself and see how it goes. I will of course upgrade to an i5 4690k. Explains my reason of buying a z97 motherboard :)

Makes sense then if you're doing it for budget reasons. But if you're doing it just to practice on a chip before getting an expensive one, you could just buy the overclockers insurance from Intel on your 4690k and save a few bucks. But overclocking is nearly hard nor dangerous if done carefully, so even that would be a waste of money. Overclocking just takes time and patience moving only the multiplier or the core voltage baby steps at a time (and only one of them at a time), then stress testing, and repeat over and over until you get the highest stable overclock.

Well the overclock on the g3258 takes 5 seconds..
