i3 3240 enough for Bf3 Multiplayer?

Go to solution Solved by Guest GRRigger,

i guess buy used i5

the processors last forever anyway, if they are well treated

minimum 8 years

Hi!
I'm planning to upgrade my other pc and I was wondering what cpu i'm going to get.
So the thing I want most is smooth bf3 gameplay on any multiplayer map with the pricetag in mind.
Will a i3 3240 cover this or should I buy a i5 instead?

Pc1:  i5 3570k | GTX 680 stock | Kingston V300 256gb | Asrock Z77E-ITX | Silverstone Strider 550W | H80 w NF-P12 | Node 304
Pc2:  Q8200 | GTX 260 216C | 500gb 2.5" | 3tb 3.5" Asus P5N-D | Corsair HX 750W | Arctic Freezer 13 Limited edition | Nzxt H2

don't listen to them

i3 is enough for bf3 linus did a video about this with HT and not HT

Did he test multiplayer in the video? Multiplayer is different from single player.

what make you think mp is more intensive then sp?

More players.

More players.

year the players have almost no cpu effect more gpu whise the gpu need to render the polygons etc not the cpu the i3 would do great in BF3 mp as long you have decent gpu like GTX680, GTX Titan, GTX 770, GTX 780, HD7970 or HD7970 in CF the cpu wont bottleneck in BF3

Hmm, then maybe it's more priceworthy to buy a i5 since I'm not going to buy upgrade it for probably 3-4 years.
Thanks for all the answers, going with a i5.
