i3 3240 enough for Bf3 Multiplayer?

Hi!
I'm planning to upgrade my other pc and I was wondering what cpu i'm going to get.
So the thing I want most is smooth bf3 gameplay on any multiplayer map with the pricetag in mind.
Will a i3 3240 cover this or should I buy a i5 instead?

I really wouldn't go lower than the lowest i5.

BF3 is one of the few older games, that takes advantage of multiple cores. So a 6300 would be in that pricerange.

An i5 or FX8320/50 would serve you best though.

it works fine just not as well as a quad core since its optimised for multiple cpu cores.

it should be enough once you play on low to mid settings. i3s are not really good for heavy processing but if that is your budget then make it do.

Try and save up for a low end i5

Did he test multiplayer in the video? Multiplayer is different from single player.

i can say for my self (because i tested it also) i3 is more then enough for BF3 and yes between gpu's but what make you think mp is more intensive then sp?

year the players have almost no cpu effect more gpu whise the gpu need to render the polygons etc not the cpu the i3 would do great in BF3 mp as long you have decent gpu like GTX680, GTX Titan, GTX 770, GTX 780, HD7970 or HD7970 in CF the cpu wont bottleneck in BF3

Yeah that will be just fine unless you want to crank the settings to ultra or something.  I'd get the i3-3220 though, save yourself some money.

i can run bf3 at med settings (i3 3230 and AMD 7750) at around 40 FPS on a 64 player server

As other have said what about the FX6300. It is very good cpu and OC well too.

I can play bf3 multiplayer in low setting using Phenom II X2 3.6Ghz with no problem.It is 4years old 2 core cpu.

I'm running an i3-2125 in my secondary rig with a gtx 570 and we can play bf3 for hours at a time with good fps. You'll be fine

Hmm, then maybe it's more priceworthy to buy a i5 since I'm not going to buy upgrade it for probably 3-4 years.
