GTX 970 and Z77

Blair

I had a question. Summer is coming and I am going to get the GTX 970, Or possibly a R9 290, However I read about some having problems with the 970 not booting with some Z77 boards, And they had to do a bios update, Well my board has it's latest bios, But it is from 2012, So is this only happening with the Z77 boards that have Sandy chips in them? because they are using a bios before Ivy and PCIe 3? I just want to make sure that when I pay over $300 for this thing, that it will work.

Ive never heard of boards needing bios updates to run certain GPUs. My new r9 280X worked fine with my over 5y.o. AM2+ Mobo.

There isn't gonna be bios update for outdated boards just because of a new gpu.

That is why I clearly said my board has it's latest bios, But it is from 2012, , That was not what I was saying, (SIGH) NVM! If you can't even bother to read what I posted why bother to answer? It was a question asking if the Z77 problems are only with the older Z77 bios running Sandy chips, Because I want to make sure my newer Ivy bios is ok, Can you understand that? Or should I make a video with a pointer?

You should prolly make a video. Make sure it says what cpu you are running in the board along with te exact bios version. Might help with the type of answer you're lookong for. Or we all can just assume.

Or I could just spend my time doing other things.
