Over 1500 Mhz GPU Clock on the Strix 970? Oh Yes We can.

LarsReviews

it ran for 6 hours straight at around a 100% load with 1501 Mhz. I would guess this means it is a stabile. Also the coil whine disappeared after the overclock.

Running for 6 hours with that OC seems to be okay to state it's stable... but a 1500MHz boost clock isn't really brutal for a GTX970. It's a nice higher air OC, nothing more nothing less.

Quite a performance boost :)

One of my GTX980 3way SLI cards can boost with 1552MHz without thermal throttling on air and that's about as much as one gets with air cooling without modded BIOS or watercooling to prevent thermal throttling.

Like I said before, I can't set the clock higher for some reason. It worked before, but now the slider will not move up. Maybe I have set the software wrong.

My G1 manages 1492 MHz without voltage increase. And I get 1553.3MHz at +25mV. However, my memory doesn't overclock at all, it was unstable at +20Mhz, so I didn't bother with anything lower.

Edit: oh, and temperatures stay at below 70, so I still can increase voltage further to get an even higher OC.

Oh THAT'S what you meant. I thought you meant you couldn't set specific values (like 1500 flat) but it went above and below

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

Please show us proof and your settings if you going to claim something like that.

Sorry op, many others 970 owners can go higher than that on stock voltage.

Here's them at 1552, I'll find the picture of the top card at 1600 as well.

I am wondering if any Strix GTX 970 owners have tested the performance with a single IPS 3440x1400p monitor?

My GPU will be delivered on ~tuesday so I want to know how hard do I have to brace myself for OCing. :D

Currently I have a 1080p gaming IPS, but I've been drooling over 34UC97 ever since Linus reviewed it.

I'm only playing RPGs so don't need higher than 60 Hz. If CES 2015 doesn't bring anything better and single ASUS 970 can handle it, I guess I will get it.

Hoping to hear some experience.

I only have only ran benchmark with Thief 2014 (ultra) in that resolution 30 to 50 fps 1ith 1400p. Avg. was 36 I believe. I will do one in Heaven.

Na, Heaven wasn't that great, it looked ok but sometimes it was noticable. Maybe it will be better with 2x instead of 4x.

It didn't save the benchmark for 2x, but it was way better. About 40 to 50 fps with just one drop to 17 fps, but I guess that was my PC's fault because it happend when the harddrive started working.

Looking forward to this, since 21:9 and 1440p are going to big. I hope.

I have the same issue with Core Clock slider not going over 1400.

I am right now running a stable OC (Heaven for 1 hour + Valley) with 1400 Core Clock and 8010 Memory Clock.

Any ideas why the slider doesn't go over 1400? Do I need to tweak Voltage or Manually adjust Fan Speed?

It seems I might get a good OC, but the damn slider won't move further. Using ASUS GPU Tweak.
